I explored Tokyo’s Most Popular Neighborhood, Shinjuku! 🇯🇵

From neon-lit alleys to conveyor belt sushi and rooftop city views, Shinjuku really packs it all in. It’s lively, chaotic, quirky, and honestly, one of the coolest places to spend a full day getting lost.

Below is a recap of how I spent a day in Shinjuku. Our full guide and tips in the first comment. Or, comment “GUIDE” on this post, and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

- Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building – free panoramic views from the 45th floor and a nighttime light mapping show
- Shinjuku Chuo Park – cherry blossoms in bloom and a peaceful escape from the city buzz
- Shinjuku Juniso Kumano-Jinja Shrine – tucked inside the park for a serene moment
- ToToToRiTon Sushi-Go-Round – conveyor belt sushi hidden down a quiet alley with amazing value (10 plates for 3,300 yen!)
- Omoide Yokocho – narrow alley with tiny izakayas and old-school vibes
- Giant 3D Cat Screen – surreal, futuristic, and very Tokyo
- Godzilla Road – spot the monster head looming over the buildings
- Golden G*i – stacked bars in a maze of alleyways and big nightlife energy
- Hanazono Shrine – a spiritual hideaway near all the action
- Kabukicho Street – Tokyo’s red-light district full of quirky entertainment
- Musashino Street – Don Quijote, gaming shops, and anime everything
- CoCo Ichibanya – Japanese curry chain with touchscreen ordering and perfectly comforting curry

I found Quebec's Best-Kept Secret, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean! I never knew Canada had a fjord, and the only navigable fjord in North America at that.

A 3-hour road trip from Québec cité, we spent 4 days in this beautiful region on a TBEX travel conference post-fam tour. Picture dramatic fjords, boreal forest trails, wildlife sightings, blueberry everything, and local flavours at Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

Here's a recap of what we did, ate and loved:
- Auberge du Cap au Leste – stay and sauna with fjord views and nightly changing three-course dinners at Restaurant Le Rabaska
- Parc Aventures Cap Jaseux – enjoyed food from Aventure Rose-des-Vents while admiring fjord views. Plus, you can sleep among the trees with a view.
- Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay – immerse and hike thru the fjord
- Les Navettes maritimes du Fjord - cruise thru the fjord
- Équinox aventure – cycline thru the scenic Blueberry Route on an e-bike
- Village historique de Val-Jalbert – preserved 1920s village with a majestic waterfall
- Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien – spot wildlife roaming free
- Parc de la Chute-à-Michel – riverside walk with snow geese and sunset views
- Musée ilnu de Mashteuiatsh – Indigenous heritage and powerful storytelling
- Restaurant Le Baumier at Hotel Du Jardin de St-Félicien – French & Nordic-inspired dishes with Boreal ingredients
- Battures · Hôtel · Fjord · Saguenay O’Batillage – fjord-front stay in La Baie with bistro offering seasonal Quebec fare at Resto des Battures
- La Chasse-Pinte, brasserie coopérative – local craft brewery pouring forest-inspired beer with boreal-inspired dishes
- Délices du Lac-Saint-Jean Économusée – blueberry everything from jams and pies to candles and soaps

My 2nd time in Quebec City after 19 years, of course I'm eating my way!

For the TBEX Travel Conference, we an ultimate foodie road trip through Québec cité and Île d’Orléans with local Quebec food journalist and expert Allison Van Rassel, and it was absolutely delicious. Think terroir, taste and a whole lot of local flavor, all while meeting the people behind them.

If you’re heading to Québec, you'll want to visit these spots. Your taste buds will thank you. Here’s where we ate and drank:

- MAUDE / laboratoire culinaire – grilled cheese waffle magic in Maizeret
- Cassis Monna & Filles – crème de cassis, blackcurrant wine, gin, softies, pastries and more
- Chez Mag Île d'Orléans – lobster rolls and classic poutine
- Ohbio – farm-fresh strawberries
- Vignoble Sainte-Pétronille – wines, pizza and vineyard views
- La Souche Limoilou – creative beers and cheesy Lumberjack Balls (La Souche Microbrasserie)
- Vieux Carré – herbal mocktails in the heart of Old Québec
- Restaurant Tanière³ – fine dining with local ingredients beneath the city

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

I was recently in Quebec City for my first TBEX Travel Conference! It's been 19 years since my last visit to Québec cité, and thought it's very fitting to share a photo from that trip for Canada Day. It's just as beautiful as I remember and even more delicious! 🙌

2-Day Manila Road Trip → Batangas → Tagaytay 🚗🌊🌿

During my trip to the Philippines, we did a 2 day road trip from Manila to Batangas and Tagaytay. Here's our travel itinerary:

🚗 Drive from Manila to Batangas (~3 hrs), quick Jollibee pit stop
📍 Patungan Cove View Deck – Underrated scenic spot with insane coastal views
📍 Kaybiang Tunnel – Longest underground highway tunnel in the Philippines
🏖️ Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club – Private beach + resort stay at Pico Sands Hotel
🍽 Lunch at JL Restobar – Filipino comfort food
🌅 Sunset at Pico Beach – Soft sand + mountain views
🍕 Dinner at Pico Restaurant & Bar – Risotto, porchetta, and happy hour cocktails

Day 2: Batangas to Tagaytay to Manila Itinerary
🍳 Breakfast buffet at Pico Sands Hotel – Enjoy indoors with AC or outdoors by the lagoon.
🚗 Drive to Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay – Wellness retreat + secret garden vibes
🍽 Lunch at Bag of Beans Tagaytay Antonio & Charito – Barako coffee + honey baby back ribs
📍 Taal Vista Hotel – Iconic views of Taal Volcano & fresh mountain air
🥧 Final stop at Colette’s for Buko Pie – A must before heading home!
Tagaytay traffic tested my patience, but the trip was so much fun. Would you do this road trip? 🚗
