Our next features two amazing Boston-based musicians from Turkey, Nazan Nihal and Utar Artun.
We will be asking them about each of their career paths starting in Turkey and now extending around the world with Boston as their home base. We will also touch on Nazan's vision of combining the field of medicine, music and coaching, as well as Utar's vision for his works, their current situations surrounding the pandemic, what's in store for them going forward etc.

２４回目となるWIM Chatインタビュー、今回はトルコ出身で現在米ボストン在住の素敵なミュージシャン夫婦をご紹介。Nazan（ネイザン）さんはトルコでソングライターとして華々しい活動ののち、米移住後は薬剤師として働きつつ自身の音楽活動の幅を広げ、トルコ音楽を基盤としたフュージョンジャズバンドで活動しながら、最近ではコーチングビジネスも展開しており、これからは医学、音楽、コーチングの３軸で活動していくそう。今回はその辺りのビジョンを伺いたいと思います。
一方でUtar（ウター）さんは作編曲、オーケストレーションを専門としながら自身もピアニスト、パーカッショニストとして全世界をまたにかけて活躍している音楽家。現在はバークリー音楽大学などで教える傍ら作編曲活動を続けているそう。
彼のビジョンや経歴、今後の方向性、さらには自宅待機中の夫婦生活のリアルやおすすめプレイリストまで、幅広くカバーしたいと思います。

Nazan Nihal Artun (Dr Artun) Bio:
As a career strategist/coach, pharmacist and lecturer, Nazan has enjoyed an illustrious career in inspiring others on their career decisions, well-being and enriching life-skills. She holds a PhD from the prestigious Ankara University in Turkey’s capital city and became a board-certified pharmacist in the state of Massachusetts, within 5 years of immigrating to the US. She also boasts certificates from institutes such as Harvard University and University of Texas. As a multi award winning songwriter, performer and founder of the Neotolia Fusion Jazz Band, she has entertained people from all walks of life the world over and takes pride in mentoring future performers.
Utar Artun Bio:
Utar Artun graduated from the Percussion Department of Hacettepe Conservatory. After graduation he enrolled at Berklee College of Music and graduated summa cm laude within 2.5 years. He has composed and arranged over 80 pieces for symphony orchestra, as well as more than 120 pieces for brass bands and big bands. Featured on various studio albums as a piano player, arranger, and percussionist. He won a Bronze Medal from Global Music Awards 2014 with his “Rose Lace” album. Recently, he won the Boston Microtonal Society Award and the Beneficent Society Scholarship Award with his microtonal string quartet “4-Quest’. Artun won the 18th HALICI MIDI Composition Contest and 2nd place in the Berklee Film Scoring Contest 7 in 2011. In 2013, He was runner-up for the TRT 2013 Children Choir Contest. In addition to that, Artun won the Highest Award of SCAMV 1st National Symphonic Composition Contest.
He is one of the highly awarded scholars of Foundation of Modern Education (CEV) and Ankara Jazz Society (ACD). In 2015, Artun got his Master of Music degree from the historic New England Conservatory with Academic Honors. In 2016, he won 3rd place award from 9th National Eczacıbaşı Composition contest. Furthermore, He’s a voting member at The Recording Academy (NARAS) . Currently, Artun is a faculty member at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory Prep Music Program.
