Book launching of Liame in Barcelona

I want to create Filipino characters who are complex, vibrant, and fully human." - Jerihco Decano on what inspired him to write his first novel, Liame.

The Filipino Expat Magazine and Kalayaan Barcelona are organizing the book launching of Liame today at 5:30pm at Philippines Club, Barcelona, Spain.

Pangaral ng Pawikan

Filipina poet KM Ramos graced the stage at Casa Asia Madrid, Spain, sharing her evocative verses about the majestic Pawikan (sea turtle) and her own poignant journey as a Pinay navigating life in Spain.

It was followed by an insightful and lively discussion on the Filipino diaspora with Mae Tolentino of Museyong Buhay , Karessa herself, and Nats Sisma, editor-in-chief of TFEM.

This enriching event, brought together by Casa Asia, Museyong Buhay, Migrant Voices, Samahang Kayumannggi and The Filipino Expat Magazine, offered a unique window into cultural identity, artistic expression, and the experiences of Filipinos abroad.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Meet Liame, an interesting Filipino guy in his twenties who's done something pretty unique – he's written down two completely different versions of his life. Both stories feel so real, so convincing, but obviously, only one can be the actual truth. Which story is the real deal? What's driving him to create this whole other version of his reality?

Is Liame's way of telling his story a kind of brave rebellion? Maybe it's how he's dealing with something tough from his past? Or could there be something else going on, something beyond his control?

Through Jerihco Decano's beautiful writing, this book takes you on a captivating journey into who Liame really is, the choices he makes, and the things that happen to him. Are we shaped by the stories we live, or the ones we wish were true? Come along and figure it out!
