03/12/2025: … 30 years ago … A single engine Piper PA-32R-300 Lance registered 9H-ABU vanished en-route from Djerba Airport, Tunisia while flying to Malta International Airport. Six people died in the crash, including three Maltese. They were pilot Carmelo Bartolo, accountant Matthew Aquilina and assistant driller on an oil rig Philip Farrugia.

02/11/25: Sicilia in Volo has earlier in the day revealed that a well-known Italian politician, namely Manilo Messina has revealed the set up of a new carrier known as Etna Sky. Until now very few details have emerged on the prposed new carrier. Manilo Messina studied at the University of Catania and graduated with a degree in Business Economics followed by a Masters. Etna Sky plans to launch its first flights during Summer 2026.

01/12/25: December started with a bang as this Airbus A320 operated by Medsky Airways but still in Buraq colours landed in Malta just after 11:30am. Registered 5A-BAA, the twinjet took just 00:42min on its hop from Tripoli. It will be receiving attention at one of the MRO providers located at Safi Aviation Park.

30/11/25: MAViO News contributor Deyan Jo Cassar took a close-up shot of the B747F engine that suffered a birdstrike during takeoff from Mitiga. The quadjet has diverted to Malta as a result. At least seven fan blades appear to be damaged.

29/11/25: The Airbus H160B, while listed as being operated by Falcon Wings, remains entirely unmarked. Recently, the helicopter has been observed making flights out of Libya, with frequent hops to neighboring countries. The aircraft, registered as P4-KHF, carried the test registration F-WWOP.

29/11/25: Following a birdstrike at Mitiga Airport and its subsequent diversion to Malta, the aircraft 9H-MSK was seen being towed for maintenance checks. The quadjet had been operating flight EAU102, traveling from Tripoli to Muscat, before diverting to Malta.

29/11/25: A Mesk Air (operated by Elit’Avia) Boeing 747-4H6(BDSF) freighter landed safely in Malta after sustaining a bird strike on take-off from Mitiga in Libya. The crew made a 3-engine landing after being forced to shut down one of the engines in flight as a result of the incident. The quadjet was on a cargo run between Tripoli and Muscat.
