RIP and thank you for your contribution to Menifee over the years.
On behalf of the Mayor, City Council, and the entire City of Menifee, we are deeply saddened by the passing of former Mayor and Councilmember, John V. Denver.
Denver, a Menifee resident since 1985, dedicated his life to serving the community as an elected official, educator, and realtor. He spent 17 years as a trustee for the Perris Union High School District before serving on Menifee’s inaugural City Council, including one year as Mayor (2012), for a total of 10 years. Denver played a pivotal role in the cityhood incorporation effort, was an active member of the community serving on the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Menifee, and worked as a real estate broker for over 30 years. His commitment to Menifee earned him the affectionate title “Father of Menifee” among longtime friends.
During his time on the City Council, Denver championed projects that improved the city’s quality of life, including the adoption of Menifee’s first General Plan and Parks Master Plan and the construction of critical infrastructure projects such as Fire Station No. 7. He served on numerous city committees and regional boards, advancing policies that supported the city’s growth and safety. Known for bringing joy to children as Santa Claus alongside his wife, Linda, as Mrs. Claus and for his approachable leadership, Denver’s legacy was honored in 2019 when Rancho Ramona Park was renamed John V. Denver Park, ensuring his dedication to Menifee will be remembered for generations to come.
Please keep his wife, Linda, and their family in your thoughts and prayers.
