The Forgotten Ornament

Once upon a time, there was a town dawning with snow, just days before Christmas. Among the houses of the suburb, there was a small family: Grandma Rose, a loving grandmother; Lumi, a kind-hearted girl; and Ether, a boy who looked up to his big sister.

The day before Christmas, the family decorated their Christmas tree with ornaments found in a little box. Digging through the box, Lumi found a small, forgotten ornament shaped like a snowflakeโ€”tarnished but still sparkling faintly in the light.

Grandma Rose saw the ornament in Lumi's hand. Letting out a chuckle, she shared the ornamentโ€™s story.

"Ah, this ornament was part of my childhood Christmas tree. My parents said it was believed to grant a wish if given away to someone who truly needed it," Grandma Rose explained.

Lumi and Ether, being the curious children they were, decided to test the myth, brainstorming who might need a little Christmas magic. After some quick thinking, their thoughts settled on their quiet neighbor down the streetโ€”Mr. Benson. The children recalled how lonely Mr. Bensonโ€™s house looked: no lights, no decorations, and the curtains always covering the window. Lumi remembered hearing from her grandma that he stopped celebrating Christmas after his wife passed away.

Lumi and Ether gathered the courage to visit Mr. Benson, bringing a plate of Grandma Roseโ€™s cookies and the snowflake ornament. At first, Mr. Benson hesitated to open the door, but the kidsโ€™ warm smiles convinced him. He accepted the plate of cookies with a defeated sigh. The kids handed him the ornament and wished for him to find joy this Christmas.

"Merry Christmas, Mr. Benson!" They said in unison as they left. Touched by their gesture, Mr. Benson placed the ornament on a small, dusty tree that he hadnโ€™t taken down from his attic in years.

On Christmas Eve, Lumi and Ether were awakened by the sound of carolers outside. They peeked out the window, only to see none other than Mr. Benson leading a group of neighbors in song. His face lit up with a sense of happiness that he hadn't felt before. Their gaze landed on the snowflake ornament that glimmered brightly on Mr. Bensonโ€™s tree, visible through his window as the curtains no longer covered their sight.

Ah, finally, the awaited dayโ€”it's Christmas! Unexpectedly, Mr. Benson visited the family on Christmas Day, bringing a gift for each of them. He thanked the children for their efforts in reminding him what Christmas is all about. Lumi realized that nothing happened to Mr. Benson through the ornament. They came to a conclusion that maybe Mr. Benson didn't wish for anything else but happiness on this special holiday.

The family ended their Christmas with Mr. Benson and the neighbors, sharing a joyful holiday meal together. The snowflake ornament had served its purposeโ€”now being a treasured symbol of kindness and community.

Book Recommendation: The Harry Potter Series

In celebration of the National Reading Month, the Green Beacon publication presents you a series of book recommendations before this month ends.

Harry Potter, a series of seven novels by J.K. Rowling, is about the journey of a young boy named Harry, who discovers that he is a wizard and goes to a magical school called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he learns how to use his magical skills and forms lasting friendships that accompany him on his exciting adventures.

Harryโ€™s close friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, join him in his quest to stop the dark wizard named Voldemort, who is trying to regain his power and conquer the wizarding world. Through courage, friendship, and determination, the trio faces and overcomes many challenges to protect both wizards and non-magical people from Voldemortโ€™s dark plans.

Some themes in this series include the power of friendship, the struggle of good and evil, and the need for love and sacrifices for the greater good. All these themes come together in harmony to make a great storyline for the readers. This series of books is highly recommended, as it offers both entertainment and valuable lessons.

Harmony in Diversity

A celebration, our cheers resoundโ€”
the joy of people all around.
Drums are beating, voices chanting;
their fire and spirit remain unyielding.

Nations stand as one, peace fills the air,
All cultures unique, all their pride bare.
From the depths to the peaks, you can see
that everyone here is as proud as can be.

Cultures and diversity enrich our ground;
hope and peace abound.
Humanity won't back down,
from turning this world's imperfections around.

Letโ€™s make the most out of this
for future generations and our heir.
Inspire the world with traditions and bliss,
and let our resolution hallow the air!

Mental health is a cornerstone of our well-being,
a truth that everyone should believe in.
Cultivate positivity in all that you pursue,
and know that caring souls will stand by you.

We honor each soul with kindness and pure love,
Lifting each other up, we soar like a dove.
With open hearts and open minds,
It is friendship that we will truly find.

Wipe away all our tears,
and gather the courage to face our fears.
Though it may seem that there is only gloom,
With hope, we can illuminate the room.

Let us embrace each other,
bursting forth in laughter.
Emotions bringing us near,
as we celebrate mental healthโ€”not just this month,
but every day of the year.
