My friend Chris Smith’s truck was found by a volunteer search and rescue team… with the incredible help of a local hunter who saw the post to find him and gave information to the sheriff’s office. One of those volunteer’s offered to lead Michael (Chris’ younger brother) and a few other friends including me to go see it last night.

Searching is under way by local search and rescue teams. With God’s help he will be found and the family can rest in that he’s still not out there in the woods alone.

You all have been incredible and so kind but I have more to ask of you. First, please continue to pray for everyone who loved Chris… especially for his parents, brothers and sister and his kids. Please also pray for his close friends. If the family asks for more specific help then please continue to show up like you have all been doing so generously. They will share when he is found. The family will not share the location of the truck, and please respect their wishes.

One more thing… and this comes from the family… also deeply from me as a father: Please do not re-share or repost the letter Chris posted on Instagram. His kids are young and have no way to process or understand that information. I beg you to not share it. The post has been taken down and saved by his family. When his kids are older, and likely with help from mental health experts, they will know their dad’s story. Now is not that time. If you cared anything about Chris… do not spread it any farther than it’s already gone.
