Several high profile organisations representing parents, and advocating for better child protection practices inside the family court system have come together to raise awareness about what they are calling deeply concerning clauses inside the Children's Wellbeing & Schools Bill, which could lead to grave human rights breaches by the state, in a protest taking place tomorrow outside Downing Street. The groups - which include the Victoria Climbié Foundation, Reclaim Rights for Children, Legal Action for Women, Support not Separation and the Disabled Mothers’ Rights Campaign - are hoping to raise their concerns in Parliament so that MPs and Lords debating the legislation are fully aware of the impact of the bill on children's and families' rights....

The government has responded to the Children and Families Truth Commission's question about whether it will ensure children's care plans are reviewed regularly with a view to reuniting children with their birth families wherever possible. Two teenagers have been told by the president of the family courts that they cannot have their adoption orders revoked because the law prioritises the efforts and input of adoptive parents. The Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, acted as an intervener in the case to reinforce the position and said during the case that a revocation of the adoption orders would "gravely damage the lifelong commitment of adopters to their adoptive children" if the finality of adoption orders could be challenged....
