Day 2 is all about bait making, with the Weedless Sparkie Jig Mold! This is the best mold to make compact jigs, a go-to for many northern fisheries. This Sparkie jig is my favorite for fishing docks, sparse grass, and skipping around shallow cover.

Day 1 is the Dropkick Shad. This small 2.75” swimbait was responsible for almost all of my biggest smallmouth this season. It is extremely versatile and just gets bites when things get tough. My top 3 colors are Goby, Black, and Green Pumpkin Shad.

Cast to Catch - 7.85 lb Smallmouth
Here’s a look at the catch of a lifetime

I was targeting fish on the flats that were feeding on schools of tiny baitfish. Focusing on bottom transition areas, I could pick out high percentage areas that bait was podded up in. This giant smallie ate a 2.75” GLF Dropkick shad on the fall. Full Gear Breakdown Below ⬇️

Magnum Northern Michigan Smallie 🏈
Our friend, Ben Nowak, recently caught a smallmouth bass of colossal proportions. At 7.85lbs, 22.5”x18”, this is going to be a hard personal best for him to beat.
