One year ago I launched a podcast here in Munich!!!
I’m originally from Texas but have been living in Germany for nearly 10 years now 🤠🥨I knew I personally have a lot to share on this topic, and that I wasn’t alone. Creating The Pod Abroad was driven by a simple motivation: I am genuinely interested in people and their stories. I also saw it as an opportunity to grow as a communicator, and as a team we are still learning and improving every week.
What have I learned?
Speaking to a camera for an hour alone is challenging, but solo episodes have been suprisingly well received. Being real on the internet can indeed feel vulnerable, but confidence is key. I’ve also never been someone without an opinion.
When it comes to conversations with guests, listening is everything. I’ve learned so much by creating space for people to speak about experiences that are often deeply personal. Many of these conversations explore cultural differences, identity, and belonging — topics that clearly resonate, given how willing listeners are to engage with long-form content. What a beautiful thing. Long-form content is not dead. Substance still matters, even in a world of expressive thumbnails 😉
