He’s back in the Lone Star State!

The Texas Rangers have claimed RHP Zak Kent off waivers from St. Louis. Originally a 9th-round pick by Texas in 2019, Zak returns to the organization where it all started.

Kent made his MLB debut in 2025 with the Guardians, flashing his stuff with 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings of work.

The Texas Rangers still have significant needs for the 2026 roster, particularly in the bullpen. One player to watch is Danny Coulombe, who the club acquired last season in a trade with the Twins for LHP Garrett Horn.

In 31 innings for Minnesota, he maintained a pristine 1.16 ERA with only 9 walks and 31 strikeouts.

​His time in Texas looked different, posting a 5.25 ERA over 12 innings with 12 strikeouts and 9 walks. He spent time on the 15-Day IL toward the end of the season. I caught this shot of him while he was in Frisco on a rehab assignment.

​For his career, he averages 8.9 strikeouts and 3.3 walks per 9 innings.

Baseball Reference projects a solid 2026 campaign:

Breakthrough Season Incoming?

MLB Pipeline named one prospect from every team primed to make a jump in 2026. For the Texas Rangers, they named Yolfran Castillo.

Currently ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the Rangers system, the 18-year-old infielder (SS/3B) is coming off a busy 2025 campaign that saw him climb the organizational ladder.

Last night the Texas Rangers signed RHP Nabil Crismatt!

The Rangers are bringing back a familiar face (pitched for the Triple-A Round Rock Express in '24), signing the 31-year-old right-hander to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

He's got 6 MLB seasons with the Cardinals, Padres, D-Backs, and Dodgers under his belt.

Went 3-0 with a 3.71 ERA in 34.0 IP for Arizona in 2025.

Primarily a reliever (122 career appearances), but made 5 starts for the D-Backs late last season.

Features a 6-pitch mix, led by a heavy dose of Changeups (38%) and Sinkers (24%).

Crismatt will battle for a spot in a projected bullpen that currently includes names like Chris Martin, Alexis Diaz, Cole Winn, Robert Garcia, Tyler Alexander, Dom Hamel, Luis Curvelo and Carter Baumler.

Can Crismatt crack the Opening Day roster? We'll find out soon enough.
