Right, I think the Pip 1:1 V2 is almost* done. I'll rescale to the old V1 proportions for the budget V2 version once happy with it.

New options that "may" work. They work in my head but who knows in the real world until its printed!
Neck shaft more closely resembles the real one. Still able to pull the head off easier. The bottom of the shaft is now on a hinge captured by two pins. This should enable the neck to tilt forwards a bit.
Variation on that neck, the pin holes on the neck shaft are actually slots, allowing the neck to move up and down slighlty.

This "should" give the following movements.
Head rotate and tilt
Neck tilt
Neck raise and lower

*depending how much I look again at it and go "oh that's off"

With the new Acolyte trailer hitting the internet yesterday there was also an advert from Disney and Autodesk for a 'design a droid' competition. In it, we see the reveal of a new droid, a droid unlike any we've seen before. Its actually more like a tricorder with a droid brain and about the same size as one. Its called Pip. Obviously we need to be able to build one - so I'm giving it a go. There'll actually be two versions. One with the moving head and one where the bottom section opens out. There's no way you can get servos in there and have it open up! Stayed tuned to here and the channel for updates and the eventual design for people to download and build!
