Today, doom metallers Patriarchs in Black reveal "Celestial Yard," the second single from the band's highly anticipated fourth album, Home, set for international release on August 15th via Metalville.

Dan Lorenzo says about the song: "About a year ago, Mark Sunshine asked me to write something on acoustic guitar for him. I believe that night I came up with the opening notes to what became 'Celestial Yard.' I finished the guitar parts a few days later and sent it off to Mark. Johnny Kelly played drums on it, and Emma Smoler added violin. I love what everybody came up with, but I'm still blown away by Sunshine's melody, lyrics, and vocals. Yes, I know - we're supposed to be a 'heavy' band, and this is mellow. I think it's my favorite song on the album. This is a crushing-yet-nuanced emotional heaviness, immersed in a beautiful musical array."

Former Type O Negative / Danzig drummer Johnny Kelly and guitarist and riff-writer Dan Lorenzo (Hades / Non-Fiction) founded Patriarchs in Black at the end of 2021. Their debut single "Demon of Regret" was released in January 2022, and the debut album Reach For The Scars was released in July 2022. Their second album, My Veneration, was released in October 2023, followed by Visioning in July 2024.

As with their previous releases, Dan and Johnny managed to secure some outstanding artists as guest musicians for their fourth long-player, Home.

Dan Lorenzo says about Home: "Did you ever see the movie Groundhog Day? Bill Murray is forced to live the same day over and over. How boring, right? I love pizza, but I don't want to eat it every meal. With our new album, you will find our 'usual' doomy riffs, but we also took some chances. There's acoustic guitars, violin, flute, and of course, lots of heavy riffs. Diversity - it keeps things interesting.

"I picked the title Home because as much as I love to travel, it's always nice to come home.

"Johnny's mom died last year. Some would say the Lord took her Home.

"Johnny and I recorded 17 new songs, but we couldn't fit them all on this album.

"We are honored that some of the best vocalists and bassists worked with us to lend their talents. We hope you love Patriarchs in Black's Home."

As bassist Pär Sundström explains, "Joakim wanted to write a proper heavy metal song, and as we’ve seen from past releases, a lot of our fans appreciate pure fu***ng heavy metal! That’s what ‘Hordes Of Khan’ is, and when you listen to it and close your eyes, you can imagine Genghis Khan on his horse, galloping to battle. Joakim composed the music and I actually wrote the lyrics for this one. When I started to work on them, I realized the melody was pretty complicated. Honestly, they were some of the most difficult lyrics that I’ve ever written. All in all, I’m very happy with the result, especially as Joakim has said that parts of the lyrics are some of SABATON’s best to date.”

The music video for “Hordes of Khan” is based in the future, in the year 2045. It was filmed in London at two different locations, the Natural History Museum and at Harrow School, and follows the main character--a young girl--who plays in a heavy metal band and loves SABATON, but she won’t ever have the opportunity to see the band play because in 2039, all wars have miraculously ended. The world is now peaceful, and war is obsolete and therefore, so is SABATON. The girl hears about a museum that’s featuring a SABATON exhibit with all of the band members’ musical instruments. The girl and her band sneak into this museum to check it out. Once inside, they are greeted by a hologram telling the story about the musical instruments of SABATON that contain magic that brings history to life. The kids take no notice, pick up the instruments and begin to play.

Once the music begins, a ferocious Genghis Khan comes to life along with five other legendary soldiers played by the band members. Their mission is to stop Genghis before he escapes the museum to take over the world.

“When reflecting on all of the music videos we’ve ever created,” says Pär Sundström, “our ‘Hordes of Khan’ music video was the most exciting in a lot of ways, even though ‘Christmas Truce’ is a much more emotional topic and story. I think this one specifically contains much more depth and action, and in combination with the locations and the actors, I’m confident that it will resonate with everyone!”

The children acting in the music video had their work cut out for them. They didn’t just want it to look like they were playing the instruments, they actually wanted the kids to really play the instruments and perform the song correctly. They thought it was going to be super challenging, but in this case they all learned the song by heart and performed it. “We were really proud of them all! What people see in the video is playback, but all of them know their parts and they can play ‘Hordes Of Khan’ for real,” Sundström continues. “We loved seeing that happen! Our ex-drummer Daniel Mullback’s son played the drums and acted in this music video as well, and he absolutely nailed it. Another amazing drummer in the making!"

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (www.diocancerfund.org) was founded in memory of the legendary singer, who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010. A privately funded 501(c)(3) public charity, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million since its inception. Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. Since 2016, the Dio Cancer Fund has committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer.

100% of the net proceeds from the ROCK FOR RONNIE will go to the Dio Cancer Fund, which is now in its 15th year of raising awareness and much-needed funding for cancer prevention, education and research for a cure. The organization also hosts the annual Bowl for Ronnie Celebrity Bowling Party, this year on Thursday, November 13.

Ronnie James Dio is the subject of an acclaimed documentary film, DIO: DREAMERS NEVER DIE, which is currently streaming and available on DVD and Blu-Ray+4K.

It opens slowly and from there on out, it's all gas, no brakes. The track quickly escalates into the moshy ragers that FFAK are known for, to the delight of their legion of fans, who will also love the sticks-in-your-brain, melodic chorus.

"This song is about love and tragedy," says singer Ryan Kirby. "A couple [is] experiencing the end of the world together. But instead of living through it in fear, they choose to enjoy their last moments enjoying each other and celebrating what they had."

Architects Announce 2025 US Tour:

Following the release of Architects' 11th studio album, The Sky, The Earth & All Between, the UK metalcore titans have announced they will be taking their explosive new record on the road with a North American tour this summer. Out now via Epitaph Records, the album has catapulted the band to new heights with 2025 shaping up to be a massive year.

Before storming the U.S., Architects will join Linkin Park for select dates in Germany on their highly anticipated world tour. The band will then kick off their North American run with festival appearances at Rock Fest, Upheaval and Inkcarceration, before launching into 21 headlining shows across the U.S. and Canada with support from ERRA and Holywatr.

This tour marks the first time North American fans will experience The Sky, The Earth & All Between live. The album has already made a serious impact, debuting at No. 2 on the U.K. official albums chart, No. 1 on Current Rock Albums (Music Connect) and cracking the Billboard 200 for the first time. Meanwhile, their single "Everything Ends" is making waves at rock radio, debuting as the No. 1 most-added track in its first week, jumping to No. 24 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart and No. 27 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.
