Urbanities - Journal of Urban Ethnography Founded in November 2011, URBANITIES is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal. It is published twice

Urbanities is published by the International Urban Symposium (IUS) in association with the Commission on Urban Anthropology (CUA). Urbanities publishes original ethnographically-based studies at the forefront of anthropology, sociology and other social sciences and the humanities. Urbanities aims at exploring new trends and debates in Urban Ethnography that promote critical scholarship and at high

lighting the contribution of urban research to the broader society. Urbanities publishes full-length articles, review articles, comments, book reviews and carries sections on research and recently completed doctorates. 2024 IUS FIELD TRAINING SCHOOL AND RESEARCH SEMINAR "URBAN RESEARCH: THEORY AND METHODS" – Hotel Corallo, Montecatini Terme, Italy, 21-27 July 2024.

The 2024 IUS Field Training School was organised by Professors Italo Pardo and Giuliana B. Prato (University of Kent, UK) on behalf of the International Urban Symposium-IUS, in collaboration with an international group of senior scholars and practitioners. The School’s teaching staff included, in alphabetic order: Gary Armstrong (City, University London, UK); Nicola Brady (Transport for London & Practitioner-in-Residence, City University of London, UK); Jerome Krase (Brooklyn College-CUNY, USA); Erin Lynch (Concordia University, Canada); Karolina Moretti (University of Athens, Greece); Italo Pardo (University of Kent, UK); Giuliana B. Prato (University of Kent, UK); James Rosbrook-Thompson (City, University London, UK); Matthew Rosen (Ohio University, USA).

The School was attended by 15 international doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars from Canada, France, Germany, Hawaii, India, Italy, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, the USA.

The in-class work was supplemented by targeted Observational Field Trips in the medieval hamlet of Montecatini Alto and in the city of Montecatini Terme, on which participants reported at length.

The School concluded with one full-day Research Seminar during which junior scholars presented their own research papers and engaged in academic debate benefiting from expert feedback from the teaching staff.

Social events benefited from the centrality of the location and its world-renowned SPA iconic establishments.

The group enjoyed evening concerts in the splendid Terme Il Tettuccio, a World Heritage Site.

BELOW, the organisers and a group of participants are greeted by the Mayor of Montecatini Terme, Mr Avvocato Claudio Del Rosso, at the Hotel Corallo.
