Once a late night chat show on the RTRFM grid, it now returns like a podcasting phoenix Midnight Special is a late night chat show with a different talented host each week. Special guests - the best guests ever - will sit down for a casual, loose conversation on the mic, either live in studio or pre-recorded at earlier hours. From musicians, writers, artists, actors, comedians and whoever has an i

nteresting story to tell, the Midnight Special is an opportunity to go beyond the stock questions and understand the creative people in and around (and even outside of) Perth in deeper ways. Random segments like 'Secret Perth', 'Parental Album Collection', 'Sandwich Talk' and 'Celebrity Name Dropping' will keep both the guests and the listeners on their toes, taking what might seem like trivial matters into enlightening discussions about the underappreciated things in life. Live music, stand-up comedy, spoken word readings, radio plays, on-air games, sound collages, experimental improvisation, and much more is all possible on an episode of Midnight Special.

A long time ago, in a radio station far, far away, Midnight Special on RTRFM began in 2017 as a late night chat show, eventually including themed music specials, and now it is time to say goodbye to the station grid. This is the final on-air episode! And because it takes place on May 4th, we celebrate the sci-fi fantasy saga STAR WARS with a STAR WARS SPECIAL!

Two hours of Star Wars chat with the occasional Star Wars themed tune! We discuss several topics like Star Wars Memories, Random Chat Show Star Wars Topics, where in Boorloo/Perth should Star Wars film a scene, obscure characters in the Star Wars universe, and we count down the TOP TEN STAR WARS CHARACTERS OF ALL TIME as voted by you!

We also receive on-air messages from Midnight Special presenters and guests including Tom Reynolds, Miko Watanabe, DJ KL and Mattie Aitken! Thank you all for listening, thank you to the station for their support, thank you to Soda for the logo design, thank you to Leafy Suburbs for the Midnight Special theme tune, and thank you to all the wonderful presenters who made Midnight Special what it was!

Tonight Thursday night 11:00pm on RTRFM 92.1, it’s the final episode of Midnight Special on the station grid. Because it’s May 4th, we’ll be ending with a STAR WARS SPECIAL, with the collective in studio running through fun segments and topics about this sci-fi fantasy saga!

We just wanted to thank Soda for designing the fantastic logo and artwork that served the show since it started in 2017. We also want to thank Lyndon Blue for letting us use their smooth tune ‘Martini Spoke’ for the theme. And of course, to thank the station for this wonderful opportunity, all of the listeners, and particularly all the great presenters who volunteered their talent and ideas, and all helped make the show what it was!

Midnight Special on RTRFM is ending its place on the RTRFM 92.1 grid next week and because it takes place on Thursday May 4th, we are turning it into a Star Wars Special!

Lots of fun segments and song selections will ensue, but we are also wanting to know WHO IS THE BEST STAR WARS CHARACTER?

We will be counting down a Top Ten list of best Star Wars characters as determined by Midnight Special RTRFM listeners!

Please help us out and complete this survey. You have up to ten choices with your favourite Star Wars characters! And there's an option to include your own choice if it is not there in the list of selections.
