Okay, so I posted the other day saying I was going to creare a Discord server to complement the show. The aim is to create a small community, engage more with people, allow people to engage with each other and also for bands and artists to connect with listeners too. I've created the server, if any of you would like to join here is an invite link. You'll need a Discord account, if you don't have one you'll be prompted to create one and you will also need to verify your email address on the account.
No idea how this will go tbh, never done anything like this before, hoping it works out, we'll give it a try anyway, I will if necessary close it if there's too many issues but I hope we'll be okay. There's a few in already, if any of you would like to be a part of this you're all more than welcome. Be aware of basic safety, don't give out personal information on there etc, don't click links unless you trust what it is, usual stuff. Hope to see a few of you in there :)

Quick heads up, as promised the Dark Side of Metal is returning to Sine FM, I'll be back on air this Monday, 10th November in my old timeslot of 8pm. More details nearer the time but I hope you can join me there!
Also I'm likely going to be launching a Discord server for the show where people can talk to and engage with myself and each other, and hopefully can get a few bands and artists in there as well. It's a work in progress so watch this space....

Apologies again for being quiet at this end. Just wanted to let you know, firstly all being well I will be resuming the Dark Side of Metal very soon, and will update you on that nearer the time.
In the meantime though, I wanted to share this with you all. This was originally broadcast on 4th June 2018 and was a tribute show dedicated to Quorthon and the legendary Bathory. I actually thought this recording had been lost and always regretted not preserving it on Mixcloud at the time. However, I've been digging through the archives today and I found it, so here it is, if you want a little something to listen to for now.
The show featured a few Bathory songs as well as other bands covering Bathory songs and at the time some of these had never been heard before outside of the bands and this broadcast. Some still haven't. So you'll hear covers by SIG:AR:TYR, Old Co**se Road, Arcane North, Månegarm, Ereb Altor, Heathen Deity and The Wolves Of Avalon. Thanks to all the bands and individuals who contributed to this one back then, it still remains a higlight for me even after 7 years!
This is a recoring of a very early show I did, one of my personal favourites. Broadcast 4th June 2018 it's a tribute to Quorthon from the legendary Bathory, featuring Bathory songs as well as other underground metal bands covering Bathory songs. Some of the songs on here were heard on this show for....

Apologies for the radio silence recently, been a difficult couple of months and it's meant I've been unable to do the radio show unfortunately. I will be back, hopefully in the near future, but I want to be in a position where I can focus fully on what I'm doing with it which I can't do just now with things happenign here. Hopefully I won't be away for too long this time and I'll keep you updated when I know when I'm able to return, just wanted to let you know what's happening anyway. Cheers everyone, all the best.

Welcome to the Dark Side of Metal
In February 2017 it was a huge pleasure and privilege to join the ranks at Sine FM, Doncaster’s incredible community radio station, with the idea of bringing some great underground metal bands to the airwaves and broadcasting content which is sadly underrepresented on conventional radio. Thanks to the extraordinarily open minded and positive ethos Sine FM has and also to community radio as a platform this idea, which would be looked upon with disdain by most conventional radio outlets, was welcomed by Sine FM with open arms and so the Dark Side of Metal was born.
The clue is in the name, Dark Side of Metal aims to bring the obscure, the extreme, the underground and sometimes the just plain weird bands which make up a vital and vibrant force in the metal scene and show the metal underground to be a hugely eclectic and exciting thing to be a part of. On the show you’ll hear, among other things, black metal, death metal, doom, pagan metal, viking metal and all sorts of other stuff that is beyond doubt just as deserving of radio airplay and of listeners attention as anything else out there, regardless of commercial viability.
Sine FM is a great platform to be on for this reason and many others. It’s a community station, non-profit oriented and so is not influenced by commercial motivations and therefore not required to tailor it’s content to mainstream audiences, this means it can bring on board more specialist shows such as this one and do things which aren’t done elsewhere. Unlike many stations it’s us, the presenters, who choose the content, we’re not handed orders or playlists from above here and this allows us to collectively create a broad and diverse schedule, of which my underground metal show is a small part. Sine FM is essentially the voice of Doncaster, engaging with and bringing on board ordinary members of the Doncaster community and giving us a platform to put out the content we love and share the things we’re passionate about with Doncaster and the wider world, and also providing the training, skills and experience that comes with it. All in all, it’s a great organisation and well worth supporting, and be sure to check out Sine FM’s full schedule on the website too, for anything from punk and indie to chat shows to some highly experimental music shows and a whole load of other stuff.
As for me, I’m just a regular metal fan who’s been listening to and loving this music for around 25 years now, I’m one of those people who comes across new bands and ends up screaming about them from the rooftops trying to convince people to listen to them. Having a radio show now, means I can carry on doing that on a much larger scale.....
Thanks for taking the time to read this info anyway, I hope it’s given a little insight into what this show is about and why I do it, as well as some info on Sine FM itself. So cheers, raise your horns, and enjoy the show!
