🎥 @ Rivers State Local Government Elections

My people, let’s talk about the reality on ground. Local government elections in Rivers State today no longer look like elections, they feel more like selections. Instead of leaders going to communities with well-thought-out manifestos and policies that can change the lives of ordinary people, what we see is more of a carnival.

Music blaring. People dancing. Campaign grounds looking more like a street party than a platform for discussing ideas. But after all the drums and the dancing, who really checks the credibility of those presented as candidates? Who holds them accountable?

Our democracy is supposed to be about giving the people a voice, not just entertaining them. Sadly, the atmosphere makes it look like decisions are already made elsewhere, and the campaigns are just a show to make it seem like the people are involved.

If this trend continues, then the essence of democracy is lost. We should demand more than dance steps and music. We should demand ideas, transparency, and a chance to actually choose our leaders — not have them handed down to us.
