The Archivist The Archivist is a home for folks to access lost classics and new tunes across the major digital outlets - reissues, rarities & new tunes alike!

Robotic Empire is excited to announce the creation of a new digital-only label, The Archivist. Launching with 15 digital reissues of long out-of-print albums alongside otherwise unreleased material, The Archivist establishes a home for both lost classics and new tunes for fans to access on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, Bandcamp and other major digital outlets. The roots of the project stem

from an early adoption of digital media by Robotic Empire, and the realization of many excellent albums simply being available in no legitimate form. The main goal of The Archivist is to make widespread availability of influential and/or inspiring music that otherwise may not reach fans worldwide who want to hear these songs. The Archivist's initial launch sees the following releases now available digitally:

This new label aims to continuously release and re-issue high quality music from a variety of genres. As a connected but separate entity of longrunning independent label Robotic Empire, the release schedule for 2015 is shaping up strong. I recorded Mastodon live in NYC in March 2001 before they signed to Relapse, released Remission and begun their ascent to becoming one of the biggest and greatest metal/rock bands of our time.

I'd never heard them before, just got a hunch watching them load in that they were going to be good, and they were.

The recording is rough, but it's a cool time capsule into a brief window of time when a band destined for greatness was still finding their feet, touring the DIY circuit and opening up a $5 matinee at ABC No Rio.

This is a moment from "the before times" in so many ways, and with the recent passing of the legendary Brent Hinds I figured some people may like to hear this. Enjoy:
