THE TOP THREE HIDDEN REASONS YOUR FIBROMYALGIA SYMPTOMS AREN'T GETTING BETTER

Episode 163 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

In today's episode, I want to share with you a question that came up in our Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® training class. Just this last week, one of my students asked, "If you had to name the top three reasons why people don't improve, what would you say those would be?"

I thought that was a fabulous question for my students to be thinking about... and I thought you might want to hear my answer to that as well!

Today's episode includes the top three hidden reasons why your fibromyalgia symptoms are not improving. I say "hidden" reasons because there's a lot we can be aware of that might be reasons why we're not improving... You know those. I don't have to tell you. Today is all about the ones you might not be aware of!

Special Guest: Dr. Desiree Cassell

Episode 162 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

In today's episode, we dive deep into the world of pelvic health with Dr. Desiree Cassel, an expert pelvic floor physical therapist.

We'll discover the truth about why issues with the pelvic floor might occur after life events like childbirth, surgery, or trauma, and we'll debunk the myth that these are just "normal" problems.

FIBROMYALGIA & CHRONIC PAIN: BEYOND THE PAIN
Featured on: Manders Mindset

I was recently interviewed by Amanda Russo for the Manders Mindset Podcast. I'm sharing it with you as a peek behind the curtain. The tables are turned and I'm answering questions instead of being the one asking them! 😆

I loved the conversation that Amanda and I had in this episode. I really think you will enjoy it as well.

We cover the realities of living with a chronic illness that most doctors don't know how to treat. We also talk about the emotional toll of being dismissed, the myths around and what true healing looks like— not from a place of denial, but from radical self-awareness. We also talk about why I decided to become the coach that I wish I could have had when I was first diagnosed. 💜

AUTISM, FIBROMYALGIA, & AUTHENTIC LIVING

Special Guest: Dr. Angela Kingdon

Episode 161 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

Did you know 41% of people with strong autistic traits also have ? It works the other way around too, with 10 to 20% of people with fibromyalgia having autistic traits.

Today, Dr. Angela Kingdon joins me to talk about this connection and the misinformation that is rampant right now around .

Dr. Angela Kingdon is a dynamic autistic advocate, author, and speaker renowned for her impactful work in promoting neurodiversity and supporting autistic individuals.

As the host of the Autistic Culture podcast, Angela shares her experiences and insights as a q***r, late diagnosed autistic woman aiming to create a more inclusive and understanding society.

Angela's mission is to help autistic people claim their birthright and help create a more neurodiversity affirming world so that everyone can lead a more emotionally regulated life.

In today's episode, we'll cover the current science and understanding of what exactly autism is and what causes it, along with how to identify autistic traits, get a diagnosis and the difference between saying someone “has autism” and saying someone “is autistic.”

There are many parallels between autism and fibromyalgia, and I know you are going to be nodding your head along with us as you listen.

CAN TURMERIC IMPROVE MY PAIN: ASK THE COACH with DR. SHIVANI GUPTA

Episode 160 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

In this episode I'm answering questions sent in by you, the listeners of the podcast about turmeric. To help with that, I have a special guest joining me, Dr. Shivani Gupta.

Dr. Shivani is an Ayurvedic practitioner and expert infusing eastern and western practices that help our bodies achieve equilibrium. She completed her master's in Ayurvedic sciences and her PhD on turmeric.

Dr. Shivani has practiced Ayurvedic medicine for over 20 years and is the founder of Fusion Formulas, an Ayurvedic company that helps people with inflammation and pain.

In a world where pain meds are no longer our first choice, the interest in natural options like turmeric is growing along with the questions I receive.

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory, sort of like a natural Advil. It can be a powerful addition to your fibro toolbox for managing pain and inflammation, but only if you're using the right stuff the right way.

Simply sprinkling some on your food or taking a drug store supplement is not enough.

Today, Dr. Shivani shares how she became a PhD in turmeric and dive in to how it helps our bodies and why the right formulation and quality in supplements—any supplements!—are key to getting results.

We want to color the map purple for fibromyalgia awareness, and Melissa is the coordinator for this effort!

In this episode, we will delve into what a governor's proclamation is, why it matters, and how it benefits us as fibromyalgia patients. We'll also update you on our progress with receiving these state proclamations.

Episode 157 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

Have you ever wanted your life or your health to change.... but at the same time you weren't actually ready to change anything?

Maybe you felt like you were getting ready to be ready? 🤔

Maybe you feel like it's going to be too hard to change your symptoms and it feels like too big of a mountain to climb to find ways to feel better. Plus, you feel unprepared, so you just decide to wait and you don't even start.

Sound familiar? Then this episode is for you!

In today's episode, I dive into the universal struggle of wanting to feel better... and at the same time not really wanting to change ourselves, our habits, or our lives.

Believe me, I have been there! 🤦‍♀️

In this episode, I share something that happened to me years ago that helps me whenever I feel like I'm stuck. It's a story from the very VERY early days of my struggle to feel better. It was one of those magical moments that changes everything. Honestly, it felt like divine help. 💜

GETTING DOWN AND DIRTY ON GETTING CLEAN

Episode 156 of the Fibromyalgia Podcast® is live now!

In this episode, we are going to get down and dirty on getting clean! 🛁

If you have NEVER struggled to take a shower or wash your hair, go ahead and skip by this episode — but if you HAVE, this episode is for you! 💜

I'll be honest, this topic isn't one people like to talk about.

It's EMBARASSING to admit you struggle to bathe! 😳🫣

Heck, it's embarassing to admit you USED TO struggle. It's why even those of us in remission don't talk about it!

But here's the deal — when my fibromyalgia was at its worst, getting clean was my hardest task. This is SO COMMON that one of the questions on the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (the tool we use to measure the severity of fibro symptoms), asks how difficult you find it to brush or comb your hair.

I'm guessing at one point or another you've struggled with this too. Maybe you were too exhausted and in too much pain to even think about getting in the shower — and feel like there aren't any options.

Little bit by little bit, I figured out some tricks and some hacks that helped me take care of myself, even on the bad days. Today, I'm sharing those with you.

To learn my top seven tips on how to keep yourself clean when you have fibromyalgia, listen to this episode in your favorite podcast app or for free on my website at: FibromyalgiaPodcast.com/156
