As most of you know, when you apply to a film festival you chose a category to compete in. As such, I have only submitted the film and never for any individual awards.
Which makes it so special to hear back from MAGMA, the International Festival Of Independent Cinema, that not only have they made Christmas Is Believing a nominee, but also given me a nomination for 'Best Directing.'
A nice confidence booster as my trip to attend AFM draws near.
Hello Andrew,
At MAGMA, the jury looks for films that can cause a stir, that can wake up audiences and cause them to reflect on, and perhaps even challenge, their perspectives. This focus on impact is multi-dimensional, encompassing both the immediate emotional response a film may evoke and the potential long-term effects on its audience's worldview. The festival thus values films that possess the power to erupt a metaphorical volcano of reactions and thoughts, ultimately aiming to awaken a generation to new concepts and ideas.
I am so thankful and fortunate to have had the opportunity to study and review Christmas Is Believing with my judges and wish to congratulate you on the 2 super nominations you got for Best Medium-Length Film and Best Directing!! You deserve to make this exclusive list of nominee finalists!! Congratulations!!
For this year's annual competition, we received a total of 209 project submissions from around the world! I hope knowing such a big number of projects makes your success even more significant!
Congratulations on your fantastic success!
All the best,
Sebastian Llinares
