TUESDAY TIP:
ACTORS IN DAYPLAYER ROLES
-no matter how big the roles are you are auditioning a role is a role! Audition for them all until you move forward (after many years) to only doing larger film roles.
Co-star/dayplayer roles are important to all films.
HERE'S what some actors are missing in auditions for these smaller roles though. THE SCENE IS NOT ABOUT YOU. There it is! You're there to be a small part of that scene that makes a difference but the scene is not focused on or about you. PACING YOUR SCENE CORRECTLY is important.
Too many lagging, drawn out scenes that no one wants to watch to the end because you're making it longer and speaking too slowly than it needs to be. This being said, don't forget your before moment and after moment, just don't drag the scene along.
So.....too many new actors think the scene is about them and it requires a long overdramatic, slowly speaking, overacted, over enunciate words auditions for these roles. We just want you to come in speak like your normal self, make a well though out, scene and get outta there correctly. Do your job, do it fast paced like in normal life. Your character breakdown and the scene work you do prior to those lines are much more important than making an over acted, over dramatic scene.
THIS is why directors think actors in smaller markets overact and they choose to bring in actors for these small roles in from larger markets.
