Today is National Superhero Day. My superhero may not always wear a cape. He may not leap buildings in a single bound, but he is the strongest and bravest person I know.

He overcomes obstacles on a daily basis that would make the average person give up.

He defeats prejudice by his beautiful smile and contagious laugh.

He offers comfort to others in the midst of his own pain.
He loves unconditionally and never expects anything in return.

He helps others that have difficulties doing the things that he can do.

He lives in a world that is not designed for him yet he smiles everyday. He does not whine and complain about how bad he has it. He finds joy in his life. He is a true Superhero.

We could all learn a lesson about the true meaning of life by his example.

In honor of my Superhero, Joshua Cole.
