The hardest part about DJing weddings that nobody talks about 👇
Most people think wedding DJing is just showing up, playing music, and making announcements.
But honestly, the hardest part is managing energy all night long.
Every wedding is completely different.
You might have one crowd that wants nonstop dancing from the second the floor opens.
And then the next wedding might have a mixed crowd where the older guests want singalongs, the younger crowd wants club music, and the couple wants a little bit of everything.
That’s the part people don’t see.
As a wedding DJ, you’re constantly reading the room in real time.
You’re watching body language.
Watching reactions.
Watching what songs bring people onto the dance floor.
Watching what songs quietly make people leave.
And sometimes you have to make decisions FAST.
There have been so many weddings where I had the next few songs planned out… and then changed directions completely because I could feel the energy shifting.
A lot of people think a good wedding DJ just knows a lot of songs.
But the reality is that great wedding DJs know WHEN to play the right songs.
Timing matters just as much as song selection.
The right song at the wrong moment can completely fall flat.
But the right song at the perfect moment can turn a normal wedding into an unforgettable party.
That’s why wedding DJing is way more than just pressing play.
