In April 2014, just days before his 10th birthday, 9-year-old Willie Myrick was abducted from his front yard in Atlanta. A stranger forced him into a car, threatened him, and warned him not to speak. In that terrifying moment, Willie turned to what he knew best—his faith. He began singing Hezekiah Walker’s gospel song “Every Praise” and didn’t stop. For three hours straight, he worshipped through song, despite the kidnapper’s repeated threats.
Willie’s unshakable faith and persistence wore the man down. Eventually, frustrated and unable to silence him, the kidnapper pulled over, let Willie out unharmed, and drove off. Willie made it home safely, turning what could have been a tragedy into a remarkable testimony. To honor his courage and faith, gospel singer Hezekiah Walker flew to Atlanta to celebrate Willie’s birthday with him—calling it nothing short of divine intervention.
