The City of Louisville Celebrates the Timeless Legacy of Fitzgerald’s Masterpiece, The Great Gatsby

Louisville, Kentucky plays a prominent role in the novel and its inclusion can be traced to the author’s time spent in Louisville. F. Scott Fitzgerald was stationed in Louisville at Camp Taylor in 1918 during World War I. Like many of his fellow soldiers, he was fond of bourbon and ci**rs and would regularly visit the city’s premiere hotel, the The Seelbach Hilton Louisville to imbibe and woo young women at the many dances held in the darkly beautiful Rathskeller there.

The Legacy of the Iconic Kentucky Hot Brown and the Downtown Hotel That Started it all

The iconic bastion of deep-baked, cheesy goodness that has found its way onto nearly every list of “official” Kentucky cuisine for nearly a century was first crafted at Louisville’s historic The Brown Hotel . From the luxurious hotel’s opening in 1923, it regularly hosted late night roaring twenties dance parties in the beautiful Brown Hotel Crystal Ballroom.

Explore the Architectural Grandeur, Legendary Racehorses and World-Class Breeding at Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa Farm

Hill 'n' Dale Farms in The City of Paris, Kentucky , is often referred to as the “Biltmore of the Bluegrass”—and for good reason. This grand estate, spanning more than 1,500 acres, is rich in history and features remarkable architectural elements. Among the most impressive are the massive stone bridge spanning Stoner Creek, where a scene from the movie Seabiscuit was filmed, and a one-mile racetrack that champions such as Ruffian, Moccasin, Buckpasser, and Dahlia have trained. The estate boasts over 14 miles of stone fencing surrounding both its interior and exterior, as well as the largest stone barn in Kentucky, which houses some of the most prominent stallions in the breeding industry.
