Let’s go for the next step. Let’s go for ABETI. Let’s go for 2025.

😇😇😇

ABETI, our film project was honored with the DOCUBOX: The African Documentary Film Fund Award at the 4th edition of the LAKES CREATIVE PRODUCERS LAB held in from November 4 to 8, 2024.

This award is a big boost for Junior Mozese and Ruben Mayoko, the young and ambitious directors of this documentary film about the story of ABETI - a woman in her forties who is fighting to escape the inhumane conditions in which she currently lives in order to provide a better life for her two daughters and her new-born grandchild.

ABETI is a difficult but very important documentary film in a world where almost everything is going wrong. That's why our film company ZERO ATTITUDE FLIX is fighting to make it a reality.

The Democratic Republic of Congo was not (initially) invited to this prestigious event for East African producers. We lobbied hard to get in, and our ABETI project won a nice award.

The other two projects from Congo, LES BILOKOS presented by Giresse Kassonga and LES MAITRES DE LA FOUDRE presented by Erickey Bahati, also won prizes, raising the country's flag high.

Many filmmakers in the Democratic Republic of Congo have exciting film projects that the world is interested in. These powerful film projects can help restore peace, create business opportunities and improve our country's image. A real change of narrative, far from the long, pompous speeches that convince no one.

We do our part. Long live the Congolese cinema!

Thanks to the GREAT LAKES CREATIVE PRODUCERS LAB team, the DOCUBOX team, the partners, the mentors and the colleagues.

It’s a wrap for NZONZING.

What a crazy film project!

In a world where the greyness of robotics is defined as the only option for the future.
In a world where physical appearance is beginning to count for more than anything else.
In a world where humans are increasingly isolated.
In a Democratic Republic of the Congo where chaos is institutionalized; Lordi Hénoch, Tychique and Andria invent an ingenious business to support themselves and break down borders.

They alone carry the energy of a whole generation abandoned to its own fate but who refuses to capitulate.

Lordi Henoch, Tychic and Andria do not complain. They work, they fail, they laugh, they cry and most of all... they live.

We've been working on the documentary film NZONZING since 2019, and we hope it will carry that energy - essence without which a city like Kinshasa would already have lost its incandescent luminescence.

Now it's time for post-production.

Many thanks to the entire team.

As a UNESCOworld heritage site, the Virunga National Park needs no introduction. For several decades, its resources have sustained life in the east of the democratic republic of Congo. When these resources are poorly exploited, an imbalance is created. The population embarks on desperate initiatives such as deforestation, poaching and illegal logging, thinking they are guaranteeing its survival but instead hastening its demise.

Aware of this, the VIRUNGA Foundation is protecting the park by initiating projects aimed at improving the quality of life of the local population in an equitable manner. These projects cover several areas and are supported by partners such as USAID - US Agency for International Development

This VIRUNGA ENERGIES film presents the development of these projects and their direct impact on the population, based on the model of clean electricity distribution in Goma by the company Virunga Energies, which covers more than 50 % of the market.

The filming took place in November 2023. There was war in the region. The rebels were trying to take control of Goma. But it was important for the two directors, Moimi Wezam and Nelson Makengo, to honour the work done night and day by the VIRUNGA teams.

Thanks to the US Embassy Kinshasa and USAID for making this possible.

Well done to the VIRUNGA FOUNDATION, VIRUNGA ENERGIES, VIRUNGA DEVELOPMENT and Virunga Alliance

Thank you to everyone who took part.

Many thanks to the film team.

5 years ago, my mates and I produced .
Our primary motivation was to bring our project to fruition and assess our capabilities at the time. We called this beautiful documentary ZERO because it marked a renewal for us and for our characters.
We achieved it, and we're proud of it. The rest is history.

Thanks to the Democratic Republic of the Congo's arable land, we shouldn't be talking about the lack of foodstuffs, as Vice Primature, Ministère de l'Économie Nationale, RD Congo has done. The Congolese should be working on mastering the production flow, improving or industrializing several types of foodstuffs.

In the case of cassava, whose derivatives are a staple food for most Congolese, Marie-claire Yandju has been working for several years on detoxification, improved preservation techniques, processing and industrialization.

I present the work of this brilliant lady in my documentary short REINVENTING CASSAVA, produced by Big World Cinema for Al Jazeera English's AFRICA DIRECT.
