The Donkey and the Tiger
The donkey said to the tiger:
— "The grass is blue."
The tiger replied:
— "No, the grass is green."
A heated argument broke out, and both stubbornly stuck to their opinions. Eventually, they decided to take the matter to the lion, the king of the jungle.
As they approached the clearing where the lion sat on his throne, the donkey rushed ahead and shouted:
— "Your Majesty, isn't it true that the grass is blue?"
The lion replied:
— "Yes, the grass is blue."
The donkey jumped with joy and continued:
— "The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts and annoys me. Please punish him."
The king declared:
— "The tiger will be punished with five years of silence."
The donkey happily trotted away, repeating to himself:
— "The grass is blue. The grass is blue."
The tiger accepted the punishment but asked the lion:
— "Your Majesty, why have you punished me? After all, the grass is green."
The lion replied:
— "Yes, in reality, the grass is green."
The tiger asked:
— "So why did you punish me?"
The lion answered:
— "This has nothing to do with whether the grass is blue or green. The punishment is because a brave, intelligent creature like you should not waste time arguing with a donkey. And even worse, you disturbed me with such a silly matter."
Moral of the story:
The worst waste of time is arguing with someone who is stubborn and fanatical — someone who doesn’t care about truth or reality, but only about winning their own argument.
Never waste your time in meaningless debates. There are people who, despite all the evidence, simply can't understand. And others who are blinded by ego, hatred, or resentment and only want to be right — even when they're not.
When ignorance shouts, intelligence stays silent.
Your peace is more valuable than a pointless argument.
