Every day in September from 12 midnight till 6 am and 12 noon till 6 pm, Visage, An Exploration Through the Centuries in Music will be presenting a program focused upon the musical genius of the English Orpheus, Baroque composer Henry Purcell. I’ll be using music from 10 different recordings, presenting chronologically, from 1678, the ode ‘What hope for us remains now he is gone?’, My beloved spake, I will sing unto the Lord, O God, the king of glory, Blow up the trumpet in Sion, Pavan No. 1 in A major for Strings, Theodosius, or The Force of Love - incidental music, the anthem Remember not, O Lord, our offences, the Sonata I in g Minor, the royal ode Why, why are all the Muses mute?, the opera Dido and Aeneas, the semi-opera King Arthur, the Ode for St Cecilia's Day, Hail! Bright Cecilia, a portion of the semi-opera The Indian Queen, and other music that time allows.
