Featuring two of the Honeymoon Killers, Kriz Kardiak was the band formed by talented painter Jean-Louis Bruyère towards the end of the ‘70s. Jean-Louis’ extravagant stage persona and his quirky & wild take on francophone avant-rock earned them a following in Brussels. They orbited around Crammed Discs, and were invited to appear at a couple of label events, in Paris and London (at the ICA). They recorded in Crammed’s erstwhile studio, but the album was never completed nor released. Jean-Louis then spent many years in Africa, returned to Brussels, and passed away in 2025.

Krize Cardiac (& Honeymoon Killers) guitarist Gérald Fenerberg recently mixed these original recordings and released them on Bandcamp, enjoy:

At the time, the band comprised Honeymoon Killers members -françois Jones Jacob (drums) & Gerald Fenerberg (guitar), ex-Univers Zero bass player Christian Genet, and Jean-Louis on vocals & guitars.

Something really special is coming to Café OTO on Monday 8 June.

Steven Brown Tuxedomoon returns to London for the first time in a decade, presenting his beautiful new album "In This Very World" in trio formation with Luc van Lieshout and Lucien Fraipont. Voice, piano, saxophone, clarinet, tapes, trumpet, harmonica, guitar: the full spectrum, in the intimate space of cafe OTO.

The evening begins with rare Tuxedomoon film screenings, including The Ghost Sonata (1991) and a selection of mid-80s videos directed by Bruce Geduldig, a perfect entry point into a world that never quite fit any genre, and never needed to.

Steven Brown’s plays ‘In This Very World’ at BRASS - Centre Culturel de Forest , Brussels, this coming Tuesday, 2 June (ticket link below).

It’s the only Belgian show in his 19-date European tour, don’t miss!

Especially as the concert will be preceded by a rare onscreen projection of Tuxedomoon’s ‘The Ghost Sonata’ (the neoclassical/electronic/musique concrete “opera without words” from 1982), and of several videos from Tuxedomoon’s 1980’s collection “A Thousand Years by Pictures”

On this tour, Steven's band consists of Luc van Lieshout on trumpet (also from Tuxedomoon) and Lucien Fraipont (Aksak Maboul, Duid, Robbing Millions ) on guitar and bass, and Steven on vocals, piano and woodwind. Expect to hear pieces from his superb new album, as well as a couple from ‘El Hombre Invisible’ (2022) and a couple of re-arranged Tuxedomoon, genuine classics.

A few days ago, we stopped by Luc's place in Brussels (aka Tuxedomoon HQ) to say goodbye before Steven Brown tour.

Steven, Lucien, and Luc were in the middle of a rehearsal: tracks from 'In This Very World', some older songs from the Tuxedomoon and Steven repertoire... It sounded really good, we can't wait for people to hear this live ☄️

Tonight it all kicks off in Torino, then 16 more European dates, with a few just added. Keep an eye on the ticket links!
