Acid Arab close the ٣ Trois chapter with a double remix release 💥

Ya Mahla, featuring Syrian singer , delivers an anthem-like message: "What a beautiful word, ‘Freedom’ / I salute the Arab revolutionaries." It has now been remixed by Mexican producer , who transforms it into a '90s-inspired rave anthem 👽

And Halim Guelil, a collaboration with raï singer Cheb Halim, known for his mastery of the Algerian musical genre aroubi, gets a fresh twist from French electronic icon

Suba left us 25 years ago, “Um dia comum em SP” (‘a common day in São Paulo’, to quote the title of this track of his).

Having moved a few years earlier from his native Serbia, musician/composer Suba (aka Mitar Subotic) was in the process of becoming one of Brazil's most prominent producers when he tragically passed away in November 1999, just a few days after the release of his now-legendary album São Paulo Confessions (probably the most inspired album of electronic music to have come out of Brazil), and shortly before the completion of Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo album, which was graced by his outstanding production work.

After working in a variety of music styles in former Yugoslavia, first in his native city of Novi Sad and then in Belgrade, Suba spent time in Paris, working at IRCAM and composing scores for ballet and theatre. In the wake of a trip to Brazil aimed at conducting a study on the music of the Brazilian Indians, Suba fell in love with São Paulo and decided to stay there. His intimacy with machines & programming, his composing and arranging skills and his feel for live beats and vocals quickly made him a powerful player on the new Brazilian scene, producing records for the likes of Marina Lima, Arnaldo Antunes, Mestre Ambrosio, and finally Bebel Gilberto’s best-selling album “Tanto Tempo”.

In the wake of their new album La fin de l’économie (‘The end of Economy’), AQUASERGE are releasing a new EP today, featuring a cover of a song by the great Robert Wyatt, one of the band’s major inspirations.

Aquaserge’s version of N.I.O. (New Information Order), off Wyatt’s Dondestan album, comes with French lyrics written by the band. Also included is a new song, Escalade (‘climbing’, or ‘escalation’).

The EP sees the band further display their love for allegoric music, non-visual films, ostinatos, format-free songs, and keep spinning the thread of their socio-poetical ideas.
