FREED DEVOđ
Have you ever fallen into the trap of believing that joy is meant to be experienced at the end of the journey?
If so, you and I are a lot alike. For a long time I believed that celebration, delight, and goodness needed to remain out of the picture if I was going to make it out on the other side of a rough season. As if sadness and sorrow deserved more of a center stage than they already had in my life. As if I needed to appear beat down, wrecked, and battered to prove that I was indeed not okay. As if I couldnât enjoy the day to day glimmers of light that God offered me.
But it wasnât until God opened up my eyes to the revelation of this text that I came to know that there is no making it through a rough time without joy leading the way.
See friend, the joy of the Lord IS your strength. Itâs your fire, your fuel, and the wind beneath your wings. It is Godâs breath, Godâs presence, and Godâs love when youâre IN the storm that gets you THROUGH the storm. But if you donât stop to acknowledge that God is indeed trying to give you the gift of it? Itâs possible youâll miss it.
It is true that some days feel heavier than others, and itâs okay to acknowledge that. And yet it is also okay to acknowledge that you and I have access to a steady, unmovable, unchangeable God who shows himself faithful, true, and real every. single. day.
So how are you going to embrace joy this week? In the right here and the right now? What practical steps will you take to make sure you donât miss His light?
