Sometimes, behind the smiles we see every day… someone is silently fighting a battle we never notice.

In Botswana, su***de has become a growing concern affecting our brothers, sisters, friends, and young people with dreams that never got the chance to unfold. Reports estimate between 5 to 12 lives lost per 100,000 people, and behind every number is a story that ends too soon.

We can’t stay silent anymore. 🕊️

It’s time to open up the conversation.
It’s time to ask, “Are you okay?” and mean it.
It’s time to create safe spaces for healing, not judgment.

Psychologists with advanced training those with Master’s and PhDs have a powerful role to play in this fight:
💬 Providing counselling and crisis support
📚 Training teachers, nurses, and youth leaders to spot warning signs
🧠 Conducting research to understand why our people are hurting
🤝 Guiding national strategies that save lives

But this is not their fight alone. It’s our fight as communities, families, and friends.
We all have a role: to listen, to show kindness, to take mental health seriously.

Let’s make Botswana a country where seeking help is strength, not shame.
Because every life matters. Every voice matters. 💙
