This is a touching story about a 10-year old boy who my mum and I came across outside of a shop in Karachi. He greeted my mother as we entered the shop, but we stopped when we noticed that he had “Ronaldo-styled” hair. My mum was quite impressed and she asked his name; his name was Kamran. He asked my mum if she could buy him chicken from KFC. My mum agreed instantaneously seeing the innocent look on his face. We took him to KFC and made him sit on the table. He was very overwhelmed, he seemed as if he was the luckiest boy on the planet. We asked him about his family he said he has 3 brothers and 4 sisters but he said his dad was an addict so he doesn’t really help in raising income for the house.
Kamran sells tissues for a living and earns about Rs.300 a day, his whole family depends on him. He also mentioned that everyday at 6 o’clock some older boys come and steal or sn**ch whatever money he has. We encouraged him look for a proper job, like work at a restaurant as a waiter. He said he would but no one would hire him because he’s not even educated. Despite the difficulties he is a good kid at heart. He did not finish his meal because he said he would share it with his cousin who sells tissues with him.
