Happy New Year 2016, pals!

Before facing this newest day of 2016, we would simply ask you a question. What are your greatest accomplishments during the 365 days that has been passed in your life? Many things you’ve been passing of course. Well, Access also has many things to share with you.
Here are the results of having chit-chat with the Access’ Crews :

Christian Paskah Pardamean Situmorang ‘13
“This is the third period I have been working in Access Magazine. I really enjoy of working as columnist, especially in this Access Magazine because I’m not getting too pressured. So, I feel convenient to write anytime, and I’m very comfortable because the crews are full of the crazy people. Really. So, Access is the magazine that really has a good potential. That’s why I love working in Access, eventhough I always fail to find out the idea, there is such difficulty to find the informant, somehow I don’t know what I’m gonna write about of the article. Hopefully, Access would be an inovative magazine, which full of many more fresh rubrics (especially I really want to recommend the fashion rubric, hehehe). At the end, Access always be in my heart.”

Siti Badriyah Desy Amalia ’13
“I’m so grateful for have been working here (Access-red). Many things I can learn here like how to write well and collecting many knowledges. I really excited if our / my article can be read by people and give more advantages for them. Sometimes, I’m feel so confused to get the idea. So, become a writer/journalist is not easy. However, I love writing so much although I’m always forget to write the Access’ Online Article. I do hope for the Access’s Crews to be more enthusiastic to do their duties and I wish I would never forget to write the Access Online Article. My expectation for The Access Magazine is to be more famous with the good content itself, just wish Access to be better than before.”

Desy Risky Lukitasari ‘13
“I love working in the Access Magazine because I have learnt many experiences. It’s really fun to write routinely within the many various topics in each of the month. Somehow, the exhaustion of doing the college tasks and other activities make me hard to write down the article, so I could not find the inspiration. However, because I love writing very much, even I didn’t realize the exhaustion because I keep enjoying writing. I wish Access’ Crews would be more unified so the production would be better on the exact time.”

Sandra Priskilla ’12
“For the first time, I really excited and enthusiastic of being in the Access’ Crews. I can deliver many ideas through the article-writing and in this part I can write about many things. However, I’m disagree about the concept in each of the month that had not been made or well-prepared yet, and there was no particular tutorial and special training for the new journalists/columnists. I suggest for the next year, Access Crews should have twice meeting in a month. In the week two, we can choose the main theme for the next month and the crews can choose which article/s they like to write. In the week four, each columnist has to share their own concept and they will get the correction to revise their article. For the new Access’ Crews, in the first time and first step, they should have given a tutorial and Press Ethics. Even though previously, they always have been writing many journals or articles, but they need a briefing because they have to know more what Access Magazine looks like and how Access show its personality through the articles inside. However, I’m still need to develope my writing skills and I want to help Access progressing. I hope Access Magazine will be more successfull, more people to read and more creative concepts inside.”

Wow, there such many great opinions from them. They have shared their experiences and many things we can learn about. Hopefully Access will be greater and better in the next year ahead. Have a great day in this 2016, pals!

LOVE OF MOTHER ALONG THE WAY, LOVE OF CHILDREN ALONG THE POLE

“I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” -Abraham Lincoln-

Indeed. A mother’s prayer is just like an everlasting friend that always be with us as long as we live. It is one of the strongest powers that give a big influence toward our life. Many stories from inspirational people such as Pak Jokowi, Pak SBY, Pak Chairul Tanjung and even Thomas Alva Edison who have a great mother who support their career have proven that the power of mother’s prayers can affect someone’s success. Here we can see that the role of mother for her children is very precious. However, seeing that our mother has given so many things to us even sacrificing themselves for the sake of our happiness, have we done anything to make them happy and proud of us? In this edition, Access will invite you to have a little bit reflection about what we can do for our mother as our gratitude and appreciation towards their loves and affections for us. Moreover, in this Mothers’ Day, it is such a right time to do some important and meaningful things that maybe we have not done before to our mothers.

The very first thing to do and of course the most important one is apologizing. In a family, especially between a mother and a child, it is usual for us to have some different opinion or perspective towards something. Sometimes we will argue each other and sometimes as children we accidentally say something rude towards our mothers which hurt their feeling. Many of us sometimes do not realize that we have done a big mistake by hurting our mothers’ feeling and then forget to apologize. As a human it is very common for us to make mistakes and of course it is also very common for us to say sorry or apologize to others including our mothers. So, we do not need to keep our dignity because apologizing to our mothers is such a glorious thing to do as a child.

Then, another simple yet meaningful thing that we need to do for our mothers is making her smile or happy. There are many ways that we can do to make our mothers smile. The simplest one is by trying to obey what our mothers want as long as we are able to do. For example, when our mothers ask us to study, sometimes we are just too lazy and prefer to do other things such as playing with our gadgets, watching TV, etc. However, when we are willing to throw away our selfishness and just do what our mothers want, it will make her happy and later on it will also give a good impact for us like we will have a good achievement from what we have studied. Of course it will become other happiness for our mothers to see their children have a good achievement in their study. See? This kind of simple thing can be very meaningful for our mothers if we want to yield a little bit from our selfishness.

Well, maybe that’s all that Access can share to you about the simple things that might be meaningful for our mothers. Actually there are still many other things that we can do to make our mothers happy. We will be glad if you are also willing to share yours in the comment box below. Again, the question is have we done one of them as our gratitude and appreciation to our mothers? Hopefully, after reading this article, all of us can be motivated to do anything that makes our mothers happy. Finally, Access wants to say Happy Mother’s Day for all mothers in this world and thank you so much for all mothers who have given us so much love and affection. We love you, Mom! :)

Good afternoon ACCESS Readers !!!
How are you? How was your holiday so far? I hope you have a wonderful holiday this year
Speaking about holiday, this article would share about holiday which held recently by our very own ED-Venture. They spent their first week of the “free-assignment-day” with interesting activity held once a year, so called as ED-Venture Touring. This year touring is rather different than before. Previously, ED-Venture used to choose Yogyakarta as their destination, but this time they went to Banyutibo and Kijingan beach in Pacitan, East Java.
Sendy ‘14, the chair person of ED-Venture said that he wants to try something different this time. He said that last year the destination of the hiking activity was different than before, but this year he and his crew want to make both of the hiking and touring destination even more special than before. The chair person also wants to emphasize the feeling of a true touring and giving an unforgettable memory for the participants.
Even though the touring gave such a great experience for the participants, sendy said that he is less satisfied. The reason is because the campfire and talent night that is supposed to be held in the night was cancelled because of the bad weather and storm. Actually, they were prepared for such things, but it could not be done since the place was not large enough. Thus, the participants were told to rest themselves and enjoy the cool breeze on the beach.
Sendy ‘14 also said that even the campfire was cancelled; the air was getting much warmer since each participant, which consists of different years and faculty, bonding even more closely by having cheerful conversation. Just like what yayas ‘12 said that this touring has become another way to get closer with another friends from another angkatan. This is actually the main purpose of the touring, aside from cleaning the beach from any trash thrown away by the visitor, thus encouraging them to care about their environment, which is to make every member of ED-Venture feels like they belong to the family of ED and sendy said that this purpose has successfully achieved even without campfire. It is safe to say that the rain pouring down were actually a blessing in disguise.
Thus, this is ED-Venture way to make their jolly December become even more memorable month. After all, everyone needs a breath of fresh air after the struggling they faced in the last term.
What about you? Do you have any other activity to make your own verse of “December to Remember”? Feel free to share with us in comment

ACCESS TO HANGOUT: SUGAR CONES (ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE)
Hi, ACCESS Readers! How’s your holiday? Are you planning to go back to your hometown to celebrate your christmas or just stay in Salatiga? For you who are going back to hometown, it must be very exciting to be at home and gather with your family, aren’t you? But, for you who stay in here, hmm... everyone will say “what a boring holiday!”. Hehehehe. But hey, don’t worry, guys! In this article, ACCESS will give you a review of a new “hits” cafe in Salatiga as one of references to spend your holiday; Sugar Cones Ice Cream and Chocolate. Tadaa! Check it out! :D
The first time you enter Sugar Cones, you will see how cozy the place is. It is dominated with white and black colors decorated with some sayings and wallpaper hanged on the wall. If you want to take pictures like a tumblr girl, this is a very recommended place! Like some of ED students who accidentally ACCESS met at there. hehehehhe :D
As it name, this cafe has many variants of ice cream and chocolate. The ice cream in Sugar Cone is served on a plate and simply in scoop (you can choose it by yourself). The scoops of ice cream are served adorably beautiful and cute. And how’s the taste? Hmmm.... yummy! :D
Anyway, you can’t only eat ice cream and chocolate, but you can also eat rice and snacks as well as coffee, milkshake, and any other beverages. So, you won’t be starving hanging out there.
To sum up, Sugar Cones is recommended for you to kill your boredom staying in Salatiga. Since this cafe is still new, so it is actually very exciting to hang out and take pictures with your friends while enjoying ice cream here. So, what do you say? No where to go? Sugar Cones at Jalan Osamaliki 7 which opens at 3-9 pm is ready to rock your mouth. Enjoy your holiday all and God bless you!

-WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!-

What’s up, ACCESS Readers? Christmas is coming, aren’t you excited? :D
Anyway, before talking about Christmas, let’s just refer to the latest semester THIRTEENERS have just passed. Almost all of them agree that they are not really well this semester. Hmm.. what happen?
Some people say that 5th semester is the beginning of your study in FLL and the previous semesters were like nothing compared to this. It is like your “welcoming party” in FLL since you will have a tile of assignments and group works. Your sleeping time will not be the same anymore or you will find it hard to sleep at noon and night as your deadlines will be your nightmare.
But, is it true that 5th semester is that hard? What actually do THIRTEENERS think and feel toward their 5th semester?
Let’s just see how THIRTEENERS react to the myth of 5th semester! :D

-Azka-
5th semester is like the entrance of misery hahahaha. It is tough but I barely passed through it. Toward this semester, I feel really challenged (somehow) to manage the time well. What makes it different compared to the previous semesters are the assignments, of course. They get harder, though I believe real world is much harder than this. Not only that, our campus/faculty activities are also really exhausting. Therefore, the upcoming semester won’t be any easier, so I expect that I am strong enough to endure it all. Wish me luck!

-112013005-
I think 5th semester is fine. It just makes me drained on the last couple of weeks. All kinds of feeling and emotion (sad, happy, & angry) appear in this semester. It’s kinda ‘touching’ I would say. Anyway, this semester is so hard because of the group assignments which we don’t really have much time to do it sitting together. Actually, I don’t mind working in a group. I’m just a bit overwhelmed that in one day I can have so many things to do, individually and in groups. However, I believe that the higher you climb, the harder the wind blows. So, I’m sure that in the next semester, the assignment will even be crazier than this. Buckle up, guys! I hope there will not be too many group assignments next semester. Perhaps lecturers should consider giving more individual assignments rather than group assignments. :)

-Edwin-
5th semester is surely the hardest time during my two-year study in FLL. It is also the right time to be fat since I’ve got a little time to sleep (stay up late means eating snacks and also means getting fatter). Fortunately, so many things can be learned from this semester though it’s tiring. More knowledge can be obtained in this semester; I learn a better teamwork skill because of the group assignments. Furthermore, to differ 5th semester with the previous semesters is the group assignments I mentioned before. Arranging schedule with the group members is actually harder than doing the assignment itself. However, I believe that the upcoming semesters are harder, so I need less group assignment please…

-Pandita-
Academically, 5th semester is the hardest time for college students. It is the time when we are demanded to put more effort to understand courses and be more discipline whereas, in fact, 5th semester only makes our sleeping time messy. Of course, what can’t be avoided is that assignments which require your thought, energy, and time a lot. To be honest, I feel so-so toward this semester. I think it’s only students’ responsibility, so we just have to go through it. Isn’t it normal? Actually, there is not much difference between 5th semester and the previous semesters. Only the quantity as well as quality of the knowledge given to us is harder, but it will be so much harder if we keep complaining and too overreacting. What makes 5th semester hard is our fear itself which leads us to feel under pressure. Therefore, I don’t really mind with whatever comes next in the next semester since it’s all the consequences we own as students. So, how annoying and hard the semester will be later, don’t you ever hate your study! 5th Semester, why so serious? ;)

-Joy-
This semester is filled with new and fascinating subjects that are most relevant to teaching English. I feel terrified, happy, sad, and anxious at once that it overwhelms me. Well, I personally think that this semester is somehow harder and quite different to the previous semesters because first, I’m halfway through my studies (so close, yet so far...) and second, a totally-new-difficulty level of some courses (Introduction to Research and Academic Reading) makes it hard to pass through 5th semester. Furthermore, I’m expecting more hectic schedule since my lectures will have increased next semester. It means that I have to go to more places in less time. I can also sense that on certain day I’ll be spending up to 8 hours or more at campus due to the long hours of lectures or completing assignments. I hope I get more involved on campus and take well-written notes! :)

Aha, that’s what THIRTEENERS say about 5th semester! Some say it is hard, but interestingly one say that it is just so-so. So, what do you say? Hehe :D
Well, whatever they say about 5th semester, it is only a little of what we will do in FLL later. Everything will be getting harder and harder. The point is that we don’t need to complain, but rather put more effort on it. You need to think that this is still the beginning of our journey in FLL, so don’t complain and just rock the semester! Finally, welcome to the jungle yo THIRTEENERS! :D

Also, since it is also the end of the semester, you must have your own plans on holidays already, right? Oh, and don’t forget about the Christmas and also New Year celebrations! All of the things stated earlier are what inspired us to pick this month’s theme, December to Remember. We hope through this theme, our readers will get inspired to create the most memorable December of their life!

Don’t Worry, My Child...

Don’t worry my child
I just worrying about your sleeping
Holding your tiny body is better than you cried
As long as I can feel your heartbeating

When I have to take those necessities
I always forget about the thicking clock
Switching on a home and do all of the possibilities
I should solve everything as fitting a key into a padlock

Don’t worry, my child
My love for you is bigger than my pain
Grow up and stay healthy, my child
God never let us living in vain

Don’t worry, my child
How wiseful you are and how pitiful you are
Remember, you’re still my child
A bright hope, a bright star

Brief Interpretation :
In the first stanza, it told that woman is the first person who recognizes firstly about something wrong in her life. She is symbolized as a mother who gets awakening by the crying of her baby. And then she tries to calm her baby down. The moment also symbolizes that a woman has to neutralize the bad atmosphere that occures in her life. In the second stanza, woman always illustrated as a person who does the multitasking chores, especially in a family and home. In the third and the last stanza, it symbolized that woman always does and wishes the best for the next generation, no matter how painful she has been through all of the conditions. Overall in this poem, woman might be illustrated as one of the angels that God has been sent into the world to give a strength, hope, new color and love.

-Dewi Sartika, a Pioneer of Indonesian Women's Education-
Good evening, ACCESS Readers! How’s your Warriors’ Day commemoration? Did you visit Taman Makam Pahlawan (like what we usually did when we were still in school) or else? Well... while visiting heroes’ burial ground was too mainstream this day, ACCESS would rather recall your history lesson about one of influential women in Indonesia.
Discussing about an influential woman, most of us will immediately refer to R.A. Kartini. Yay or nay? Yes, she is indeed a hero for our Women’s Emancipation and Education, but don’t you remember that we still have another super woman? Okay, then... let ACCESS remind you about a female hero from West Java, Dewi Sartika.
Raden Dewi Sartika, born on December 4th in 1884, is the leading figure of Indonesian women’s education. Since 1966, Indonesian government formally acknowledged her as a National Hero because she had sacrificed her life to fight for an education for Indonesian women. As you know, at that time, women can not deserve education, but only to stay at home. So, Dewi Sartika took an action to make women taste an education.
The 18-year-old Dewi Sartika started her movement in 1902. She taught writing, reading, cooking, and sewing to girls living around her house. Two years later, Dewi established Dutch East Indies or Sekolah Isteri or Sekolah Perempuan which was spread in Pasundan until outside Java. She was struggling to teach her students how to become a good housewife that is independent and skilled, not only depends on men.
For around 45 years until she died on Septemberr 11th, 1947, Dewi Sartika had committed her life to the nation only for a good education for women. She fought with all her best to make women educated. Even if only become housewife, but women need to be educated as they will be the education for their children. As she said in 1911, “Bagaimana caranya agar bangsa kita bertambah maju? Hal itu oleh para pembesar sudah dipikirkan, yaitu kaum wanitanya harus maju p**a, pintar seperti kaum laki-laki, sebab kaum wanita itu akan menjadi ibu. Merekalah yang paling dahulu mengajarkan pengetahuan kepada manusia, yaitu kepada anak-anak mereka, laki-laki maupun perempuan.”
In conclusion, what we can learn from Dewi Sartika is that women must deserve a good education. Not because to defeat men, but more on to facilitate their children a good education for absolutely an Indonesia’s better future.
Alas, happy Warriors’ Day, everyone! Always remember “Jas Merah”, jangan sekali-kali melupakan sejarah.

Unique and Anti - Mainstream Job for woman

Heyho Access Readers !! whatsupp ??

How was your weekend? I hope you have great weekend. Since the new week has already come so this is a new opportunity for Access to launch the newest article.
Today article are still under the theme of two sides of woman and we are going to talk about 5 anti – mainstream job that many women rarely do in this world yet the job is exist and there are people who actually do the job.
Lets just start !!
1. Tire Repairwoman
It sounds odd in our ears right? Yeah of course because in Indonesia the person who repair tire is usually a man not a woman but there is a girl who repair tire for living. Nanik Fransiska Dewi a girl comes from Indonesia is confident with her job which is becoming a tire repairwoman. She doesn’t care with what people talk about her. She just do what she thinks is good for her. She is incredible, am I right?
2. Charging ladies
Tire repairwoman is weird already. But now there are charging ladies. What are the charging ladies does?. They work like SPG in a phone exhibition which was held in Bandung lately. So for anyone who wants to charge their gadget they can come to the charging ladies and charge their phone immediately. Interesting, right?
3. Video-making on youtube.
Nowadays being a video-making on youtube is not something new. Meanwhile there is something unique from this woman. She is Sandra lee. She is known as a dermatologist in the real life but she is known as “dr. pimple popper” on youtube. Why? Because she posted many videos related to how to pop pimples from her patient. Whoa interesting right?
4. Skater
Being a skater is a common thing. What makes it unique is the person who does the job. Emirati Zahra being a skater when she was 17 years old and what makes it special is because she is the very first skater who use hijab at the international competition. Whoa great !
5. Mechanic manager
Mechanic manager is identic with man as well as tire repairman. But there is something new happen in Pakistan. Asma Azim, A grandmother comes from Pakistan has been choosing her path to work as a mechanic manager and truck driver for years. She said that her work colleague whose mostly are man treat her with lots of respect. Especially because usually they can see that Asma Azim is able to fix the machine by herself. Whoa amazing!

So those are some unique, Interesting and anti – mainstream job that some women do for make living. Are you interested to try? Or do you have any other interesting job for woman? Feel free to write on comment.

Fashion and Woman

"Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live." —Gianni Versace

Indeed, as women which fashion is very close to their life, it is very important for them to be aware about the role of fashion in the way they dressed up. In another words, it is better for them not to let fashion control them instead they themselves who should control the fashion. In this article, we present two pop**ar ED’s female students who think the same way as the above definition.

The first woman who kindly shares her opinion and tips about fashion is Annisa Putri from 12ers. In her opinion, fashion is about “being comfortable and different”. She thinks that in order to be fashionable we do not need to rely on the current fashion instead we just need to dress up based on our need and what kind of events and occasions. For her, fashion is quite important for women’s life because it can describe our mood and attitude. Here are some tips from Sapi (how Annisa’s friends usually call her :D) about the way she dress up which might inspire you especially for women who wear hijab in your daily life:

1. Informal occasions: jeans+dress, t-shirt/shirt, plain hijab if your t-shirt/shirt has some motives like flowers, squares etc. and in reverse.
2. Formal occasions: long skirt, shirt match with blazer, and silky hijab and the last touch wear a high heel to make you more elegant.

For you who do not wear hijab, no need to worry because here we still have another woman who will share her opinion and tips about fashion. She is Raissa Junita from 12ers a.k.a. Sasa. Not so much different from Sapi’s opinion, when talking about fashion she agreed that fashion is how we dress up and fashionable is “when a person dresses up comfortably and looks good in other people’s eyes”. When we are asking about how important fashion is for her she said that it is either important or unimportant because as long as you are comfortable with what you wear it doesn’t matter. As a woman who concerns about fashion, she also has some inspirations which come from one of Indonesian fashion bloggers, Sonia Eryka (IG: ). Here are some tips that she shared for us:

1. Informal occasions: as long as you are comfortable with what you wear, for example from Sasa herself she likes wearing short skirt match with t-shirt.
2. Formal occasions: as long as it is polite, for example: long pants or skirt (not too short) match with shirt.

For you who might have your own taste in fashion, you may try to apply these Do’s and Don’t’s from Sapi and Sasa to inspire you in your daily fashion:
Do’s:
1. Dress in a polite way and comfortably.
2. Make it suitable for your body shape.
3. Suit with the weather and events.
4. For foot wear; be brave to wear the various/unique one.
Don’t’s:
1. Do not wear slipper and hot pant when you go to campus.
2. Do not dress up excessively.
3. Do not wear any clothes which have contrast colors.
4. Do not wear any clothes which have too much motifs.
