DIGIPIN (Digital Postal Index Number) is a new, open-source, nationwide geo-coded addressing system developed by the Department of Posts in India, in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of ISRO.
Here's a breakdown of what it is and how it works:
* Precise Location Identification: Unlike traditional PIN codes that cover large areas, DIGIPIN assigns a unique 10-character alphanumeric code to very small grid units, approximately 4 meters by 4 meters, across the entire geographical territory of India. This code is derived directly from the latitude and longitude coordinates of that specific location.
* Digital Address: It essentially provides a digital address for every precise spot in India, making it possible to pinpoint locations with high accuracy. This is particularly beneficial for areas with unclear, unstructured, or even non-existent traditional addresses (like remote villages or temporary structures).
* Open-Source and Interoperable: DIGIPIN is an open-source system, meaning its technical documentation and source code are available to the public. This promotes collaboration and allows various government ministries, state governments, institutions, and private organizations to integrate it into their workflows.
* "Address-as-a-Service" (AaaS): The initiative aims to provide "Address-as-a-Service," which means offering a range of services related to address data management to support efficient interactions between citizens, government entities, and private sector organizations.
* Benefits:
* Improved Deliveries: It's expected to revolutionize how e-commerce, logistics, and courier services operate by ensuring precise and faster deliveries, especially in remote areas where finding addresses can be challenging.
* Enhanced Emergency Services: Emergency services like police, ambulance, and fire rescue can use DIGIPIN to quickly and accurately locate individuals in distress, potentially reducing response times.

* How to get a DIGIPIN: Users can visit the "Know Your DIGIPIN" portal (e.g., https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mydigipin/home) to locate their address on a map and generate their unique 10-character alphanumeric code. A device with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) capability might be needed for accurate coordinate capture.

Watsapp Hack ing problem

Two other methods used by cybercriminals to hack into WhatsApp are: sharing phishing links or malicious apps and QR codes generated to enable the use of WhatsApp on the web. Scammers send phishing links urging the user to click them. Such links can install malware on your device and steal your WhatsApp credentials and personal information stored on the device. Similarly, fraudsters share a QR code to allow you to use WhatsApp on the web. However, the web portal, opened after scanning the QR code, resembles an authentic one, but is obviously fake and allows fraudsters to view and control your chats.

One more method used by fraudsters is SIM swapping. However, it takes time and effort to do this and, hence, is usually used to gain access to banking or financial accounts for stealing money. WhatsApp allows payment through unified payment interface (UPI), but not many people in India use it. In other words, it is not worth the time and effort of hackers to use SIM swapping and access WhatsApp accounts.

This brings us to the most important question: How can we protect our WhatsApp account from getting hacked? Here are a few suggestions...

1. Enable Two-step Verification
WhatsApp offers a two-step verification feature requiring a second PIN code (besides the 6-digit SMS code) to log in. Go to Settings > Account > Two-step verification > Turn on or Set up a PIN.

However, remember to set a PIN that is easy to remember because if you forget it, you will have to wait for seven days before WhatsApp allows you to reset the PIN.

You can also update the email address associated with two-step verification which allows you to reset two-step verification and helps safeguard the WhatsApp account.

This additional layer of security prevents scammers from accessing your account, even if they get your SMS code.

2. Never Share your Verification Code
To protect the account, WhatsApp sends a push notification when someone tries to register a WhatsApp account with your phone number. When you receive this notification, it means that someone has entered your phone number and requested the registration code. Sometimes, it may be a genuine mistake if another user mistyped your number while registering her own number on WhatsApp.

But in any case, never share your WhatsApp verification code with others.

WhatsApp never asks for your verification code, nor should anyone else. If someone asks for it, assume it's a scam.

3. Be Cautious of Phishing Links
Avoid clicking on suspicious links, even if they come from trusted contacts. Always double-check the URLs and ensure the source is legitimate before proceeding.

4. Secure Your SIM Card
You can set up a PIN to lock your SIM card. When this feature is enabled, you need to provide the PIN to unlock and use your SIM. You can get the default PIN from your mobile services-provider or create one from the device settings. For example, on Samsung Galaxy mobiles, you can go to Settings > Security & privacy > More security settings > SIM card lock and set up a PIN. SIM card PIN adds extra protection to protect your SIM, especially from swapping attacks.

5. Use Strong Device Security
Set up a strong lock screen password or biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) to prevent unauthorised access to your phone.

6. Monitor Unusual Activity
If you receive notifications about WhatsApp activity you didn't initiate (like a new login attempt or code request), immediately log out of all sessions and secure your account.

7. Log out of WhatsApp Web
Regularly check your WhatsApp Web sessions to ensure no unauthorised devices are connected. Go to Settings > Linked Devices to view and log out of sessions that you do not recognise or have not started.

By following these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to WhatsApp hacking scams. If you suspect your account has been compromised, immediately alert WhatsApp support and notify your contacts of the potential breach.

Also, beware of 'security' messages spread by some so-called experts. In one such message, 'a master expert' gives a 'tip' to 100% secure WhatsApp accounts from hackers by enabling 'protect internet protocol (IP) address in calls' and 'disabling link previews'.

Unfortunately, this is just a false sense of security. Your WhatsApp account can be hacked even after you have enabled these settings. This is because protecting IP addresses in calls and turning off link previews (when someone shares a link on a WA message, you can see its preview or small image) have nothing to do with the hacking of an account. If you are worried about your IP address, then you need to use a virtual private network or VPN and not the built-in settings of WhatsApp to protect it during calls.

ਜੇਕਰ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਿਮ ਖਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ। ਗ਼ਲਤ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮ ਲੈਣ 'ਤੇ 3 ਸਾਲ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਤੇ 50 ਲੱਖ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ। ਨਵਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਟੈਲੀਕਾਮ ਸਰਵਿਸ ਜਾਂ ਨੈਟਵਰਕ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੇਜ਼ਮੈਂਟ ਨੂੰ ਟੇਕਓਵਰ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਸਪੈਂਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਮਰਜੈਂਸੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਾਲਾਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਣ 'ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਟੈਲੀਕਾਮ ਨੈਟਵਰਕ 'ਤੇ ਮੈਸੇਜ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਟਰਸੈਪਟ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗੀ। ਨਵੇਂ ਨਿਯਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ 9 ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਿਮ ਕਾਰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕੇਗਾ।
ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਜੰਮੂ-ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਰਥ ਈਸਟ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਰ 6 ਸਿਮ ਕਾਰਡ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਸਕਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਿਮ ਲੈਣ 'ਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ 50,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ 2 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੇ ਜੁਰਮਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਹੈ। ਨਵੇਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਤਹਿਤ ਕੰਜਿਊਮਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੱਡਸ, ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਲਈ ਵਿਗਿਆਪਨ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੋਸ਼ਨਲ ਮੈਸੇਜ ਭੇਜਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਲੈਣੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ 'ਚ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਟੈਲੀਕਾਮ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਮੈਕੇਨਿਜ਼ਮ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਯੂਜਰਸ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ।
ਟੈਲੀਕਮਿਊਨੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਐਕਟ 2023 ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ 20 ਦਸੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਤੇ 21 ਦਸੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਦੀ ਮੁਰਮੂ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੁੱਲ 62 ਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਹਨ। ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਿਰ 39 ਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਹੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ 138 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਟੈਲੀਗ੍ਰਾਫ ਅਧਿਨਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਟੈਲੀਕਾਮ ਸੈਕਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਦਿ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਵਾਇਰਲੈੱਸ ਟੈਲੀਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਐਕਟ 1933 ਦੀ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਲ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ TRAI ਐਕਟ 1997 ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੋਧੇਗਾ।
ਬਿੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਟੈਲੀਕਾਮ ਸਪੈਕਟਰਮ ਦੇ ਐਡਮਿਨੀਸਟ੍ਰੇਟਿਵ ਏਲਾਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਆਏਗੀ। ਨਵੇਂ ਬਿੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਬਿਜ਼ਨੈੱਸਮੈਨ ਐਲੋਨ ਮਸਕ ਦੀ ਸਟਾਰਲਿੰਕ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਜੀਓ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

1. ਨਾ-ਸਰਗਰਮ UPI ID ਨੂੰ ਅਕਿਰਿਆਸ਼ੀਲ ਕਰਨਾ: NPCI ਨੇ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਐਪਸ ਨੂੰ UPI ID ਨੂੰ ਅਕਿਰਿਆਸ਼ੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਰਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਧੋਖਾਧੜੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਡੇਟਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚਾਰੂ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।

2. ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ (ਬੀਟਾ ਪੜਾਅ) ਲਈ UPI: ਇਹ ਪਾਇਲਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਪਾਰ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਅਤੇ UPI ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਲੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭੁਗਤਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਪਟਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਫੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਭੂਤੀਆਂ ਵਪਾਰ ਬੰਦੋਬਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

3. ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸੀਮਾ ਵਧਾਈ ਗਈ: RBI ਨੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਅਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸੀਮਾ 1 ਲੱਖ ਰੂਪਏ ਤੋਂ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 5 ਲੱਖ ਰੂਪਏ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕਾਲਜ ਟਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਂ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਬਿੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਫੀਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

4. UPI ATM ਅਤੇ ਟੈਪ-ਐਂਡ-ਪੇ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਕਰਨਾ: NPCI ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ATM 'ਤੇ QR ਕੋਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਕਦੀ ਕਢਵਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੋਨ ਟੈਪਿੰਗ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਰਹਿਤ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਅਜੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਵਾਧੂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾਵਾਂ UPI ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
5. 4-ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀਮਾ: UPI ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ, RBI ਨੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਕਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ 2,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਚਾਰ ਘੰਟੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਨਿਯੰਤਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵਿੰਡੋ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ ਨੂੰ ਉਲਟਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਸੋਧਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

1. Inactive UPI IDs
Ever wondered what happens if you forget about your UPI ID for a year or more?

Well, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has directed banks and all the online payment apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and similar platforms, as well as banks, to deactivate all the UPI IDs left inactive for the last 12 months.
2. Increased transaction limit
The RBI has recently set a new maximum daily payment limit for UPI transactions. From now on, the limit for hospitals and educational institutions is Rs. 5 lakh, a significant jump from the previous Rs. 1 lakh.

3. Pilot Project for ‘UPI for Secondary Market’
Recently, NPCI has revealed plans for the upcoming launch of ‘UPI for Secondary Market’ in its Beta Phase, approved by the SEBI and set to commence in the first week of January.
In simpler terms, investors can block funds in their bank accounts during this pilot project. These funds will only be debited by the Clearing Corporations upon trade confirmation during settlement. Here, Clearing Corporations will process payouts directly to the clients on a T+1 basis.
So now, you don’t have to transfer the funds to your stockbroker account; instead, you can directly block funds in your bank account for placing trades.
However, it is important to note that this is currently limited to the equity cash segment and available to a limited set of pilot customers.
👉🔥4. Cash Withdrawal by using a QR Code
NPCI and Hitachi Payment Services have teamed up to introduce India’s first UPI-ATM. This means you can now withdraw cash by just scanning a QR code. The RBI is planning a nationwide rollout of UPI ATMs.
👉🔥5. Fraud Prevention by a 4-hour window for first payments
To reduce the rising cases of online payment fraud, a new plan is in place. Every time a user initiates the first payment of over Rs. 2,000 to someone they have yet to transact with before, they will have a 4-hour time limit. This means the user will have four hours to modify or reverse payments to a first-time user.
