I'm writing the 2nd volume of the Gillian Byrne cozy mystery series and was informed by a grand writer about otter.ai, a program used mainly for collaboration of responses and notes at meetings but which also lets you dictate whatever you want onto a page, which it then exports as text to your laptop instantly and formatted--incredibly useful since I can dictate all my thoughts about the book in any order down onto a doc to see later--random thoughts, characterizations, red herrings--whatever comes to mind even while driving if I put it on my phone. Upshot is no thought has to get lost in the mind matter... 🙂, which is often the bane of a writer, even when I am not at the computer. It lets you rewrite verbally and fixes the text--and more. So Volume 2 is proceeding even though I also have to unpack more and sort out my new life here... 🙂 I attend a writer's group on sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery every Saturday and the leader of it, who is also owner and editor of MetaStellar Magazine, gave me the heads up about the software. I had insisted AI was trouble, but her day job is in AI and she showed me otter.ai and it is such a boon! I stand corrected... 🙂
