President Ahmed Tinubu’s Conviction And The Emilokan Prophesy : A True Reality.
Long before now, the incumbent President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had had his eyes on the future of the country with him in the driver's seat.
In his preparatory stage, he started to manage himself here and there, in and out of Nigeria and doing what is right and proper of a leader per excellence to come.
When the country was under the fangs of the military, he spoke, he wrote and shouted out his voice. He abandoned his family and homeland for safety when he was faced with persecution or arrest. He knew that “he who fights and runs away, will fight another day.” He was right!
It was not in anybody's concern to lead the way for him, but he built upon his mind a fortress of conviction and no wonder many say that the office he occupies today was contemplated thirty years ago.
He studied and worked hard. He built people and developed minds. He created an enabling environment where people could maximise their potential. Yes, he did!
As a thinker who sees into the political future of Nigeria, he supported leaders to climb and waited down the ladder and never complained. They were up there in offices and he was attending to national cohesion and preparing grounds for generational prosperity.
He became a leader himself and truly led a state to prosperity. He was visionary, articulate and democratic. The state thrived and gained at all fronts. Till date, Lagos is a darling to Nigeria and by extension the world. He made it possible!
When his tenure ended, he went to work - investing in human capital. People triumphed, became men and women themselves and led people. He straightened broken lines and built bridges. He was never tired!
He knows when the ovation is loudest and how to quit. He advises leaders, encourages and discourages when appropriate. He gave up opportunities for others to reach the pinnacle of their careers and political dreams. He never complained!
As he waited, he canvassed, met people and promises were made. Those that rode on his shoulders to stardom started to feel some sense of guilt - even though he has all the proven requisites to sit on top, he did not ask, but waited for time to speak.
When the opportunity beckoned, he knew it was time to let the people hear him loud and clear. He did not hesitate to point it out and stepped forward. He stood in front and behold there was a long queue of men and women across board behind.
The “emilokan” pronouncement was a far-reaching statement that resonated across the length and breath of the nation. He believed, stood by it and walked the talk.
He perhaps might have rehearsed his speech for that day, but many believed that the word “ emilokan” was not written on any paper or his mind, but came out divinely from the inner sanctuary of his heart while he spoke and at the same time looking at the multitude who came to listen.
It was true, his turn was not negotiable. Those with the right minds knew what it meant and some twisted minds coined and made it a scorn. Unbeknownst to them, it was a pronouncement that was to come to pass. Emilokan triumphed and here we are today with the broken chain symbol on our caps, immortalizing freedom.
