This release marks the end of a twenty-two-month period of psychological exile and studio isolation—a process not of production, but an exploration into the mind’s labyrinth of liminal spaces.
As one of the original minimal progressive creators from Denmark, Static Corn emerged in the same era that birthed the early Scandinavian twilight sound. This was a formative period defined by deep, swampy grooves, psy minimalism, and the birth of what would later be categorized as “dark prog.” As a key figure within the Gerningsstedet collective, Static Corn was instrumental in translating this energy into the gritty, atmospheric spirit of the Copenhagen underground.
Liminal is a singular narrative told across seven sequential chapters, spanning sixty-seven minutes and thirty-eight seconds. It is a sonic synonym for the mind: a dark, cinematic puzzle box that gets solved by the listener.
"I wanted to go back to the roots of the genre, when it was long progressive nights that just felt like forever. There is no need for constant changes in the music. I wanted to just let it build up for a long time, so you get lost in the 4-on-the-floor and lose both time and ego."
