CURRENTLY
On Aug 10, 2026, at 06:43 a.m., the Bjørnafjorden fire and rescue was notfied that the 'Nyving' had allided with a pier in the center of Os during the docking manoever upon its arrival from Breiviken.

The ship backed into the wooden structure, which was heavily damaged.

The fire department was on site together with the police short time later.

No one was injured, but there was damage to the quay. Just before 8:30 a.m., the police announced that they had spoken to the captain, and that there is no suspicion of alcohol.

Technical problems were thought to have been the cause of the allision.

The Bjørnafjorden fire and rescue was working to remove the wreckage of the pier.

The operator Sveholmen has sent assistance to the scene, and a support vessel has been deployed to unload the 'Nyving' and secure the vessel at the dock.

CURRENLTY
Security authorities in Liberia, including the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Coast Guard and local police, launched an investigation in early August 2026, after the 'IB Atlantic IV' was spotted drifting near York Island in the Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County.

They initiated safety and security probes after initial attempts to establish contact with the drifting vessel were unsuccessful.

On Aug 2, the Armed Forces of Liberia dispatched a 14-member tactical Coast Guard team aboard two boats to intercept and board the vessel.

However, operational difficulties and poor weather reportedly allowed the ship to evade Liberian tracking due to limited maritime resources, unfavourable weather conditions, and the vessel’s movement farther into deep waters.

The operation had also experienced delays as Liberia sought authorisation from Sierra Leone, where the vessel was initially located.

The matter gained public attention, after the ship’s request to dock at the Port of Monrovia was denied due to suspicious circumstances, amid broader investigations connected to major co***ne seizures in Liberia.

The vessel was subsequently intercepted and arrested by the Ivory Coast Navy in Ivorian waters.

The vessel had departed Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, on July 1,bound for Lomé, Togo. In mid-July, the vessel’s AIS ceased normal transmissions, effectively disappearing from routine maritime tracking.

By late July, the vessel reappeared, drifting or anchored near York Island, within Liberia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
