Minot man arrested after weapon discharges and injures neighbor.

On Sept. 11, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Minot Police officers responded to a residence in northwest Minot for a report of a male with a gunshot wound. Officers arrived on scene and began rendering life-saving efforts in the front yard. Once the scene was secured, they were assisted by the Minot Fire Department and Trinity Health First Response.

Through the investigation, officers determined that Jesse David Cureton, 38, of Minot, accidentally discharged a rifle inside his residence. The round exited through his front door and struck a 50-year-old male neighbor who was walking on the sidewalk.

The victim was transported to Trinity Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries but is in stable condition.

Cureton was arrested for Aggravated Assault (Class C Felony) and taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Ward County Jail.
