Congratulations to KAXE / KBXE! Well deserved!

Our KAXE News team took home some hardware and recognition from our broadcast journalism peers last week!

Award-winning stories ranged from a look at the Niganawenimaanaanig Indigenous nursing program at Bemidji State University, to breaking coverage of the severe flooding in the Arrowhead, to deep dives on the helium deposit in Babbitt and a push for absentee ballots in Crosslake. And the Up North Report won two awards in the Newscast categories. ☺️

Minnesota Native News

Minnesota Native News is a weekly five-minute radio program covering cultural, social, economic, and health issues within Minnesota’s Native American communities. Thirteen of the Ampers radio stations carry the weekly segment reaching about 80,000 listeners each week. Minnesota Native News is a production of Ampers, Diverse Radio for Minnesota’s Communities, and made possible by funding from the Minnesota Arts and Culture Heritage Fund, and the Citizens of Minnesota. The Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund is part of Minnesota’s constitutional amendment passed in 2008 that protects drinking water, forests, wildlife habitat, and preserves the state’s arts and cultural heritage.
