I was contemplating on sharing something about this, but this… This is perfectly said.
Also, if you haven’t learned this about me, I don’t tolerate hate. So if you have nothing nice to say, or you feel the need to bash someone or bully others, don’t bring it here. I don’t match energy, I block. 🖤
The news is out about the sale of the McInteer Villa, and like many others, I’ve spent some time reflecting on what that means.
Over the years, so many incredible memories were made within those walls. The Villa became more than just a historic building, it became a place where friendships were formed, stories were shared, and experiences were created. Much of that is because of Stephanie. She poured her heart and soul into that property, and it showed in everything she did.
The truth is, the Villa won’t ever be quite the same. Not because of who bought it, but because of who sold it. Steph was a remarkable steward of an extraordinary historic location. The Villa reflected her passion, her dedication, and her spirit. In many ways, it became an extension of the sunshine she brings into the lives of those around her.
Most of us have no idea of the challenges that come with owning and maintaining a historic property of that scale. I don’t know every detail behind her decision, nor am I entitled to. What I do know is how deeply she loved that place. I know how much of herself she invested into it. And I know she would not have let it go unless she truly felt she had to. Rest assured, as much as we loved the Villa, our love for it was only a fraction of what Steph’s was.
At the end of the day, Steph is far more important to me than any building. If selling the Villa was what needed to happen so she could find peace, stability, or simply move forward, then she has my full support.
Before rushing to judgment, maybe take a moment to consider that we rarely know the full story behind someone else’s decisions. There are far bigger issues, far more intentional acts of harm occurring within this field, that deserve our attention and energy if our goal is truly to make a difference.
Regardless of what comes next for the building, I’m grateful for what Stephanie gave to it and to all of us during her stewardship.
Thank you, Stephanie Oreilly and we love you!
