At 17, thinking about the future can feel overwhelming — so my son Logan Sexsmith sat down with real estate agent Ron Dickson to get some real advice on building a career and a life that actually works after high school.

Ron Dickson has always been incredible at giving life advice, beyond the real estate transaction. Some of the lessons in the conversation that really stuck out include:

💡Set goals - not just big dreams, but realistic, measurable goals for your income and growth.
💡Track your progress — know your conversion rate, know where you're improving, and learn from your failures.
💡Fail forward - growth comes from lessons learned
and is still progress.
💡Build relationships — the people you connect with matter. Stay curious, ego-free, and open to growth.
💡Invest in yourself — whether it's reading books like The Go-Giver or The Upside of Stress, the people you meet and the conversations you have shape your character.
💡Think long term - imagine the person you want to be in 10 years and start acting like them today.

Ron also reminded Logan that your personal brand is important, and in today's world, most connections aren't face-to-face, so how you present yourself matters. And yes, real estate is about identifying problems and offering solutions, but these lessons go far beyond any one career.

It was an insightful conversation that expanded into real life, but the key takeaway? Focus on growth, stay curious, and always invest in yourself because the people, books, and experiences you surround yourself with will shape who you become.
