On this National Heroes Day, August 25, we honor the brave souls who sacrificed their lives so that freedom may continue to live among the Filipino people. We remember not only the great figures of our history but also the modern-day heroes whose service and sacrifices uphold the strength of our nation.

From healthcare providers to construction workers and OFWs, these unsung heroes embody the spirit of resilience and unity that continue to guide us forward. As we commemorate their legacy, may we carry their courage and dedication within us, keeping the Filipino spirit burning fiercely in our hearts.

Today, the nation honors the legacy of Senator Benigno β€œNinoy” Aquino Jr., whose courage and sacrifice inspired Filipinos to fight for democracy and freedom during the People Power Revolution of 1986.

His assassination at the Manila International Airport in 1983β€”now named the Ninoy Aquino International Airportβ€”sparked a movement that led to the historic People Power Revolution that restored democracy in the Philippines.

Under Republic Act No. 9256, signed in 2004, August 21 is declared as β€œNinoy Aquino Day,” a special non-working holiday observed nationwide in his honor.

As we commemorate this day, may we be reminded of his enduring words: "𝗧𝗡𝗲 𝗙𝗢𝗹𝗢𝗽𝗢𝗻𝗼 π—Άπ˜€ π˜„π—Όπ—Ώπ˜π—΅ π—±π˜†π—Άπ—»π—΄ 𝗳𝗼𝗿."
