The first stories of our lives are etched by a mother's love, the ink that shapes who we become. To these unsung heroines, our deepest gratitude.

This Mother's Day, we honor your boundless strength and the profound impact you have on the world. We celebrate all maternal spirits who offer unwavering belief and shape the stories we ourselves will one day tell. May your day be filled with the richness and warmth you so freely give.

Echoes of Perseverance. Grade 11 Senior High School honorees from the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand and General Academic Strand (GAS), attended the year-end recognition ceremony for A.Y. 2024-2025 at the Mary Ngo Auditorium, April 28.

Isaiah Timothy O. Lacaba—with Highest Honors from Grade 11 ABM, expressed in his growth story speech that growth is not about reaching a final goal, but about the small steps taken along the way.

“Growth does not always mean having the answers. Sometimes, it just means having the courage to ask the questions—and the patience to keep searching,” Lacaba said.

Pope Francis dies at 88, to be buried at Santa Maria Maggiore

Pope Francis, head of the Roman Catholic Church and the first non-European pontiff in nearly 1,300 years, died on April 21 at his Casa Santa Marta residence at the age of 88.

The death of the Pope came about four weeks after being discharged from a hospital in Rome, recovering from bilateral pneumonia. According to the Vatican, he passed away from a stroke at 7:35 a.m.

Although his medical team reported that his condition had stabilized, his passing came unexpectedly, just hours after a public appearance in St. Peter’s Square.

The Vatican announced that his funeral will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Square to accommodate the public, with simple ceremonies and an open casket per his wishes.

Pope Francis will be laid to rest in Santa Maria Maggiore, making him the first pope in over a century to be buried outside the Vatican. He chose the church due to his strong devotion to Mary and the church’s venerated Byzantine Mary icon, Salus Populi Romani, where he prayed before and after each of his overseas trips.

Black Saturday, also known as Holy Saturday, marks the quietest day of Holy Week. It is a time of deep reflection and mourning as Christians remember the period when Jesus lay in the tomb after His crucifixion. This day reminds us that even in silence and sorrow, God’s promise remains.

As we await the joy of the Resurrection, Black Saturday teaches us the value of patience, faith, and the quiet strength that comes from trusting God’s timing. It is a sacred pause where we reflect, remember, and prepare our hearts for the light of Easter Sunday.
