This year marks the 88th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, and December 13 marks the 12th national memorial day for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre. People gathered for a candle-light vigil at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.
A descendant of John Rabe, who helped establish the Nanjing Safety Zone together with other foreign residents, addressed the crowd. Young dancers performed a narrative piece, and a children's choir sang. Through AI technology, a present-day girl held a symbolic dialogue with a historical child, suggesting healing and renewal.
Participants walked the "Bridge of Peace" holding candles, lit a "PEACE" installation, and finally arranged their lights into a dove shape as a symbol of lasting peace. Descendants of victims and patriotic families also attended, urging the younger generation to remember history and work toward a peaceful future.
