At GCUC UK London 2024, Rob Teel, President of Global Solutions at shared insights into the rationale behind Yardi’s investment in WeWork, describing it as a pivotal step to support the coworking industry and encourage greater transparency and collaboration.

Rob introduced the concept of an “affiliate programme,” which could allow WeWork to connect with a wider network of flexible workspaces while enabling operators to offer WeWork spaces to their clients.

He highlighted that Yardi’s data-driven approach, paired with its extensive resources, has the potential to stabilise WeWork and unlock new investment opportunities for the entire flexible workspace sector.

Liz Elam and Rob’s conversation showcased the transformative potential of this partnership—a collaboration that could truly be a game changer for the future of coworking.

Driving innovation and building stronger connections across the industry is key to shaping a more resilient and inclusive future.

At the GCUC UK London 2024 conference, Sarah Hayford, Founder and CEO of The Land Collective, highlighted the urgent need to make the commercial real estate and coworking industries more visible and accessible to young people, particularly those from underrepresented communities.

She shared insights from her charity’s mission to bridge this gap, noting, “Many young people aren’t even aware of the opportunities available in our industry. By positioning ourselves better—through targeted content, marketing, and active participation in career fairs—we can attract diverse new talent and build a more inclusive future.”

Creating awareness and breaking down barriers is essential for fostering equity in the workspace sector.

At the GCUC UK London 2024 conference, Kane Willmott, Co-Founder and CEO of iQ Offices, spoke about the transformative impact of AI-powered sales assistants on lead conversions in coworking spaces with Francesco De Camilli of Uniti AI.

He noted that some operators have seen a 2-3x increase in conversions thanks to AI integration. However, he emphasised the importance of human oversight, stating, “AI is transforming how we interact with leads, but human oversight is still key—complex scenarios need that personal touch.”
