Robert ’Sput’ Searight and RSVP Records Join the Ropeadope network

Robert ‘Sput’ Searight and Ropeadope announce the launch of RSVP Records, a new LA based label headed by Sput Searight and connected to the Ropeadope family of labels. The first release on RSVP will be the debut album from Ghost-Note, the drum and percussion based project from Sput and his Snarky Puppy compatriot Nate Werth. Fort

ified is scheduled for release in October 2015. Robert Searight is held in high esteem by his peers and fans alike. His credits are lengthy - from work with Kirk Franklin, Snoop Dogg, Timbaland, Erykah Badu, Cheryl ‘Salt’ James, and Justin Timberlake, to his years drumming and helping to shape the Snarky Puppy sound, to his most recent work with Shaun Martin and Kendrick Lamar. The Grammy winner expands the world’s notion of the drums as he constantly evolves and pours his soul into the music. Sput is the quiet and brilliant force that propels a band in new and powerful directions. Yet it is his work as producer that awaits the full understanding and recognition, and RSVP is the start of a new phase in his career.

‘Music often serves as a tour guide, and when placed in the right hands, the journey can take one further inside themselves than they ever dared to consider. It can provoke change of behavior and plant seeds of dreams to come. It is the soundtrack to our lives, and yet, we don’t truly acknowledge the power it has to actually charge the energy surrounding us.’ (Robert Searight)

‘RSVP Records will offer opportunities to a select few exceptional artists that might not have a chance in the manufactured music industry of today. A solid roster of impeccable music for those lovers of words, family, friends, and children who want to hear the music throughout the day and in the darkness of night. RSVP will serve as a conduit for some of the best kept secrets in our extended music community, with the goal of filling the airwaves with a much needed uplifting sound at the highest level of musicality as we go through these tough times.’ (Robert Searight)

Happy Saturday to EVERYONE!!!!

Specifically to all my “DfW Creatives” which includes musicians , singers, DJ’s, MC’s, dancers, actors/actresses, producers, artists, poets, managers, barbers, make up artists, venue owners, stylists etc… or simple just anyone doing creative/entertaining art in the metroplex. Please save this date ‘NOVEMBER 18th’ …

I’d like to have a sit down with everyone to check in as a community. We can call it the ‘Meeting of Great Minds’ . Sort of like a town hall meeting were we all can have freedom to speak freely in an organized space. I will spearhead much needed conversations to bridge the gaps between the many generations in one area. There will be a panel discussion and Q&A as well were , we will address and bring awareness to our mental health as well as the physical health, also in which we all learn things we may not know about the history of our city/metroplex , stategically how to raise the pay for working artists in the metroplex , how to work better not only w/each other but the clubs and venues in an appropriate integral but respectful and professional space, and of course many other topics and discussions.

We did this decades ago with some of the now late greats Omar Jahwarand Shaun Martin ,,,, myself , RC Williams , Geno Young, Gino LockJohnson Iglehart and a few others and had a very effective and meaningful fellowship..

Our local community and abroad has been through a lot in the last few years and grief has settled heavily amongst us all . I think it’s time we start the process of a collective healing .
We won’t take up a lot of your time . In fact we will seek to do this often . Stay tuned and I’ll drop the time and location .. Tap in with me in the comments if you are interested in coming together.

Thanks for taking the time to read..

I see slot of people questioning the idea of celebrating BLACK HISTORY MONTH. For one it’s a month of ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, we celebrate BLACKNESS all year around… but for those who feel away let me help you …
Black History Month is the time for African Americans to acknowledge key figures from our past and present. It's an opportunity to spotlight to celebrate the achievements that African Americans have accomplished in this country, despite the history of racism and oppression.
If we don’t do this as African Americans, then who will?? Let’s not be so WOKE or super religious that we forget about preserving our HERITAGE…
