The gang is back with Episode #78 of the Retro Wrestling Re-View USWA Podcast! This week, Gene, Josh, and BT head to May 4th, 1991, a show remembered for one major moment: the USWA debut of Miss Texas (a young Jacqueline, long before WWE Hall of Fame status).

This episode features:
• The debut and introduction of Miss Texas, hyped heavily by Dr. Tom Prichard and Eric Embry
• Eric Embry continuing his run as the territory’s most manipulative, rule breaking heel
• Dr. Tom stirring up heat on the Tennessee women while presenting Miss Texas like she was royalty
• Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller tell a story and then see tag team action
• Nightmare Danny Davis & Superstar Bill Dundee battling the Texas Hangmen in the “main event” with the infamous “yeller hoods” finally making an “in-studio” appearance (yes, they notice weird stuff)
• The ongoing chaos surrounding the barbed wire glove/coal miner’s glove/NOT a regular barbed wire match stipulation
• A big, feel-good closing angle with the Tennessee crew standing united against the “Texas Bunch” heading into Monday night
Plus, Gene and BT talk psychology, continuity, 1991 booking weirdness, and why some finishes (like that punch) just feel outta place.
If you love USWA Wrestling, debuts, deep dives, and unfiltered commentary, hit play on another fun filled episode

Retro Wrestling Re-View CWA Podcast 1987 Episode #3 - Soultrain Jones Arrives, Kicking Off 1987 Memphis Style!

BT and Gene Jackson crank up the DeLorean and head straight into January 1987 for the very first CWA Championship Wrestling episode of the year—and they’re bringing every ounce of southern chaos with them!

What’s in this Episode:

The mysterious Emily Arthur appears from the crowd to challenge Downtown Bruno—was she a plant, a natural, or just fearless?

Gene reveals backstage stories about Goliath (Bubba White), Dennis Upton, and a certain Tupelo connection that ties it all together.

A full breakdown of Soul Train Jones’ debut promo—including his unforgettable “herm” rant, threats to “cut the fat off Goliath,” and a performance that’s equal parts Apollo Creed and Virgil before Virgil was Virgil.

Downtown Bruno in full Memphis mode, cracking off-color jokes that only Lance Russell could shut down.

BT and Gene revisit Boy Tony, Tracy Smothers, and the early 1987 feud brewing between 'The King" and Tommy "Wildfire" Rich!

Classic Lawler promo dissected line-by-line—plus what made him one of wrestling’s top three talkers of all time.

Stories about tape trading, talking Carny, and Gene learning the secrets of the biz from Tommy Lane’s wife in the fifth row of a Mississippi independent show in 1996!

This episode blends genuine wrestling history with pure 1980s Memphis absurdity. Expect laughs, insider stories, and all the southern-fried nostalgia that keeps the Retro Wrestling Re-View rolling.

Tune in every other Saturday morning at 11 a.m.—just like the old Memphis shows! Grab your biscuits & gravy, finish up Scooby-Doo, and join Gene & BT as they relive the CWA glory days, only on Patreon!
