The film was never meant to be the finish line.

If you joined us at the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, thank you for sharing this experience with us.

One of the greatest gifts of OWNERSHIP has always been the conversations that begin after the lights come up.

Before a story can reach the world, someone has to make space for it to be told.

That's a belief that continues to guide everything we do at The Lagralane Group.

For us, storytelling has always been about more than entertainment. It's about making room for honest human experiences. It's about investing in artists with something meaningful to say. And it's about amplifying perspectives that have too often been overlooked or underrepresented.

That's why our work takes different forms.

We INITIATE stories.

We INVEST in storytellers.

We create IMPACT by helping courageous work reach the people and communities who need to experience it.

Different branches. One shared purpose.

Today, the story belongs to the audience .

This morning, OWNERSHIP screens at the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Every film begins with an idea.

But it isn't complete until it's shared.

Today, we'll have the privilege of watching a room full of people experience OWNERSHIP for the very first time. Some will see pieces of their own story reflected on screen. Others may leave asking new questions. We hope every person leaves inspired to continue the conversation.

We're also honored to share Block 13 with an incredible group of filmmakers whose work deserves to be celebrated.

Independent film is built on artists who choose to tell meaningful stories, and we're proud to stand alongside them today.

To everyone joining us this morning, thank you for spending your time with these films.

We'll see you in the theater.

During a recent interview with yettagibson, I talked about a mindset shift that changed everything for me.

For a long time, it felt like I was waiting for someone else to say yes.

Yes to the story.
Yes to the vision.
Yes to the opportunity.

Then I realized something.

I could say yes myself.

Not because I had all the answers, but because I believed there were important stories that deserved to be told.

As we get closer to the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, I've been reflecting on that decision with even more gratitude.

Every filmmaker I'll have the privilege of meeting made a similar choice. Every actor, writer, producer, and artist invested in an idea before there was a guarantee it would be seen. They chose to create, to persevere, and to believe their story mattered.

That's what I love about the independent film community. It's filled with people who keep saying "yes" to meaningful stories, even when the road isn't easy.

I'm incredibly grateful that saying "yes" led us here, and I can't wait to celebrate the amazing storytellers I'll meet at .
