Out Now: Novalima La Danza Remixes

Following the success of La Danza, the ambitious musical project Novalima unveiled throughout 2024 and 2025, the influential Peruvian collective known for redefining Afro-Peruvian music for dance floors around the world returns with La Danza Remixes, a new EP featuring five previously unreleased reinterpretations of standout tracks from the album.

Originally conceived as an exploration of the many connections between Afro-Peruvian traditions, the African diaspora, and contemporary global sounds, La Danza marked a new chapter in Novalima’s artistic evolution. With La Danza Remixes, those same compositions are given a fresh life through producers who expand their sonic possibilities and introduce them to new spaces for listening, movement, and celebration.

The EP features a deep dub and atmospheric rework of “El Tiempo” by Spy From Cairo; an elegant groove-driven interpretation of “Pura” by BL; a rhythmically rich version of “Hatajo” by Misumena that preserves much of the song’s Afro-Peruvian essence; a hypnotic and immersive take on “Canto del Agua” by Yemanjo; and a powerful Afro-house reinterpretation of “Soy Palenque” by Hallex M, which emerges as the centerpiece of the release.

From his early days in NYC , as a founding member of the supergroup Tabla Beat Science alongside Ustad Zakir Hussain and Bill Laswell, his 8 critically acclaimed solo albums , to his seminal collaborations with Sting, U2 , Norah Jones, Anoushka Shankar, and Herbie Hancock to name a few, Kale has consistently pushed the boundaries of what music can and should be.

10 years in the making, with the release of Dust, Karsh Kale returns with his most ground breaking and genre bending album to date.

Recorded in New York City, Mumbai, Delhi, and Goa, DUST chronicles a journey through Karsh's life. While known for being a world-class drummer and tabla artist, DUST reveals Kale’s most intimate side yet, featuring his own songwriting and vocal performances more prominently than any previous record.

The album bridges generations, featuring longtime brothers-in-arms like Salim Merchant and Gaurav Raina (The Midival Punditz) alongside the modern vanguard of indie music, including Komorebi, Neel Adhikari and Purbayan Chatterjee

Out Today: "Night Turns" the first single from Karsh Kale's upcoming new album, Dust.

"Night Turns" is a masterful fusion of distorted tabla and bansuri set against electric guitar-laden grooves. Complemented by Kale's vocal style, the track serves as the definitive opener for a genre-bending musical journey. Loosely inspired by the 90s cult vampire film “The Lost Boys”, the song evokes perfect imagery of how the night can be a time for inspiring transformation. The song is “perfect storm" of ambient rock and electronics that feels simultaneously nostalgic and completely fresh, further elevated by the contributions of guest artists John Shannon, Ankur Tewari, and Warren Mendonsa

Grammy-nominated, Yiddish Glory's new album, The Silenced Songs of World War II is out now:

On August 18, 1950, ethnomusicologist Moisei Beregovsky was arrested for his work collecting Yiddish songs written during the Holocaust. Beregovsky‘s collection was confiscated, he was sent to the gulag for six grueling years, and died thinking these songs that described N**i atrocities in Ukraine, Moldova and Poland were lost to history… until librarians in Kyiv rediscovered Beregovsky’s collection in a former Soviet archive.

“Every song on this album is controversial,” explains Anna Shternshis (University of Toronto), who created Yiddish Glory. “Some tell stories of illegal border crossings, others condemn fellow ghetto prisoners for corruption, while still others uncover stories of betrayal by former friends and neighbours who became prison guards instead of companions. Each song contains secrets, because singing them out loud could lead to jail sentences. Yet each song is also a testament to the fact that some people who lived through what they lived to, have simply refused to be silent."

This album is the result of 14 years of painstaking research, including Shternshis’ expeditions across Europe, Central Asia, and through former Soviet archives where she found the KGB’s records of how they interrogated and tortured Beregovsky.
