Andromeda Speaks is a brand new feminist literary magazine dedicated to exploring and redefining what it means to be female or feminine in today’s dynamic society. We believe it is important to constantly reevaluate gender and how it is learned and inscribed, as well as how it intersects with other dimensions of our lives, such as race/ethnicity, sexuality, socioeconomic status, and so on. It is i

mportant that we challenge what it means to be female or feminine, as well as question what other cultural forces tell us about being female or feminine. Andromeda Speaks is interested in works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry that explore these themes of what being female or feminine means in our individual lives as well as on a larger cultural scale. This magazine aims to be a safe, public space for writers to engage in dialogue about notions of being female or femininity. Works deemed inappropriate for our readership will not be considered. Submissions for the first issue of Andromeda Speaks open July 1st, 2015. Stay tuned for updates on our Kickstarter!
